Granada tv highlights were the same in the 90’s with that stunted vvanker Elton welsby. Was always Crewe, Stockport and Bolton getting all the time and plaudits. The radio Bolton thing is humorous to a point as they are doomed, not happy and still they get covered. Relegation is a certainty for them and hill is widely disliked, I think he will be gone soon and can’t see another league club appointing him. His arrogance that made him a great manager when he first started, obviously when he was more motivated, is his downfall now.

I subscribed to The Athletic to read the Matheson article. Recently there has been one about Billy Davies when reading for some reason it reminded me of Keith

'It isn’t easy trying to understand how Billy Davies is wired when he has already convinced himself there are people in this world who are out to get him. His reputation goes before him: angry, feeling persecuted, reeling from the wickedness of it all. So how do you tackle that subject without feeding his suspicions that he was right and, look, the b**s*ards in the media are ganging up on him again?' Couldn't help thinking Hilly could end up saying similar which is sad considering the success he brought to Dale

Keith Hill went from a messiah that everybody at the club admired and looked up to, to a despot that everybody at the club feared. There are anecdotal reports of staff hiding behind doors when he was nearby towards the end of his time at the club. A remarkable transformation, really.

"Granada tv highlights were the same in the 90’s with that stunted vvanker Elton welsby. Was always Crewe, Stockport and Bolton getting all the time and plaudits." Don't forget Stoke and Port Vale. By the time those clubs were added into 'north west' there was no time for any clips of little old 'Dale. I could never abide Welsby's smirk.

For some reason that anecdote conjures up the image of the question to George Best "where did it all go wrong George". One minute he had it all ……… cue self-destruction. As you say, remarkable on so many levels.

radio bolton. on 21:12 - Mar 2 with 3529 views | Sandyman | I recall Welsby being obsessed with Tranmere as well. At around the same time, Teletext coverage in the area was obsessed with Chester. Something major would happen at one of the top league sides in the area but if one of Chester's players had a cold, that would be top story.

That’s absolutely insane, and makes you wonder how he lasted so long considering the generally terrible results for his last two and a half seasons.
radio bolton. on 23:56 - Mar 2 with 3386 views | 49thseason | 4th of March will be 12 months since Hill was sacked. How we need the BBM magic for the next few weeks as per last season.... 6 wins and a couple of draws would be ideal right now.

Hill lasted as long as he did because he had complete control over Chris Dunphy once Dunphy was outed Keith Hill was history. David Bottomley had the balls to sack Hill just in time to allow BBM to oversee the relegation escape. BBM was successful in boosting moral and getting the players to play with freedom and football was fun again, that was more down to the fact that the players were free of Hills toxic presence than any tactical awareness on BBM's part. There is no doubt in my mind that Hill would have took us down and blamed everybody other than himself. Just my opinion I'm sure you have yours. [Post edited 3 Mar 2020 5:33]
