Is that the lad who is on trial and played for the u23s the other day?

Wilmot's the first team centre half signing.

No idea. Completely forgot about Wilmot.

Zaragoza on twitter too

Both them teams are in the 2nd Spanish tier, I can't see them getting anywhere near his wage demands even on his 50% cut.

Was it Oviedo who bid 2m for him and we rejected it? We won't be rushing to sell him now.

Also you can now order Borja 9 shirt on the official club shop site.

I don't think they would have given Borja the No.9 shirt last week if they had any doubts he may not stay.

Even though he had the option of a transfer or having a 50% pay cut and chose the 50% cut?

He's staying this season, score goals then get a sign on fee elsewhere when he's out of contract in June.

Is that right, he took a 50% cut?

Apparently so according to PS. He'll take a 50% wage cut so he can play for the Swans until his contract is up next July.

The 50% pay cut being bandied about is likely nonsense. It is entirely possible that he agreed to waive bonuses ect, but I seriously doubt that they would make up to half of Borja's pay. As far as i'm aware, any reduction in actual salary would fall under a contract negotiation, which the club would have put out an official press release if it were the case.

There’s absolutely no way Borja has taken a 50% cut in the last year of his contract. Possibly for a longer term contract somewhere else, but he has absolutely nothing to gain from doing it here.

According to posters it will be a good investment by Borja. It will cost him personally (and his agent of course) just over £1,000,000 to put himself in the shop window for buyers next year. And, no doubt, he’s bound to score over 20 goals, so teams all over Europe will be queuing up to buy a Championship striker who can score that many goals in the second tier.

Being forced out of the club to Spanish 2nd division club on nowhere near what 50% cut would be?

Performing in the Championship is likely to get him a bigger and better move when his deal runs out as opposed to performing in the Spain 2nd division?

Having 2 crappy loan spells in La Liga?

Routledge waived appearance fees last season to play I have no doubt that Borja has taken a pay cut to play this season, look at the bigger picture.

That does have some logic. As we are both where we are, we are currently stuck with each other. He could be loaned out again and not play or he can offer to take a pay cut for a season, play and show the world he's capable and then get a better deal next season.

So is the implication the club just wouldn’t play him, despite not having any real competition up front? Make our best striker train with the kids while we play a weakened team?

Back to the signing of Surridge....

Provides us a really good alternative to Borja. Reminiscent of Harry Kane in the videos I've seen and according the Oldham fans, who are raving about him. That's not to say he's in the same league or standard as Kane, before some funny tvvat pipes up.

It feels very nice being satisfied with the business we've done in a window given the circumstances.

How do you force him out of the club? He either gets a transfer that all parties, including him, are happy with, or he stays. If he stays, he plays.

Routledge waived a guaranteed contract extension based on playing a certain number of games to be able to play. He wasn’t losing anything as he wasn’t playing and wouldn’t have got it anyway. The situations aren’t comparable.

And this, unfortunately, is where we are at as a club.

Sold our two most valuable players, released big earners. Brought in a few loans, a winger for £500k and a free transfer, yet it feels like a decent window.

Thanks. I don't think anyone needed reminding or the negatives. But I suppose people are prone to doom and gloom.

It’s reality. You either accept it or you go all happy clappy over the kind of window we’ve just had.

We've shifted most of the higher earners and should have enough cash to offset the cost of those remaining thus ensuring the clubs financial future whilst bringing in some young talent to bolster the squad.

Not been a bad window in all, although we'll preferably be minus an Ayew and a Montero by the end of it.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

That was kind of my point. We’ve sold two of our best players, replaced them very cheaply and it still seems like a reasonable window. It’s where we are

Although to be fair, the only high earner we have shifted to date is Ayew - The rest were out of contract.

In terms of in comings, it'll remain to be seen but we've in essence signed a bog standard left back to compete with Declan John, a quick winger with a poor record of assists and goals, a couple of kids from mid table Premier League sides and that Swedish winger who does, on paper at least, look a good prospect.

It's all okay business but so far we are definitely significantly weaker than we were last season, particularly if VDH goes and particularly in terms of permanent players.

If those two leave we could have a mini sludge in January if we’re there or thereabouts.
