McClaren gone - official on 16:21 - Apr 1 by qprd | Holloway's response is why he's no longer manager. classless, uncalled for and undisciplined david mcintyre tweeted somethign to the effect that the board didnt like having a child at the wheel. brentford comments, his millwall antics... there's a reason he got the sack |
I'm no fan of Holloway but I don't think he's said too much wrong there. On SM, what I think has done for him is the way the wheels have come off since Christmas, I've never seen anything like it. After years of decline and cr@p we finally looked like we were starting to head in the right direction leading up to Christmas, so the collapse since then is even harder to take the normal. No one can win 1 in 15 and have any complaints when they're shown the door, he's been absolutely abysmal.

I'm no huge Ollie sympathiser but he's right though, isn't he? Another Fernandes change on the basis that someone got in his ear. McClaren was in line for that job and clearly pitched for it long before he got it, that's wrong and Ollie has every right to feel aggrieved on that basis. I think there are a lot more reasons Holloway was sacked than the fact McClaren was interested btw, but he did take the job of a man that was for all intents and purposes, fulfilling the remit he was given, McClaren never managed that.

McClaren gone - official on 14:31 - Apr 1 by CamberleyR | Not a lot it seems since Forest. He probably thinks he's got unfinished business though in the Championship. |
We haven't done a lot since Forest either. We ended one jinx that day and started a new one in that it was our last ever win on a Saturday in all competitions. Six points in three months is relegation form by any stretch of the imagination. If we did that in the first three months of next season we would be certain to go down. This momentum of losing could have continued into the start of the 19-20 season so he had to go. It has been said before that McLaren is a decent coach but management is not his forte.

Who knows if Mclaren was gunning for Ollie's job while he was in it. Perhaps schteve was approached by QPR. But you're right, and for the most part, i cant disagree with what ollie has said. my point is that these outbursts show a lack of discipline on his end and probably was something ownership didnt want to deal with

Ollie has always been outspoken. It really shouldn't have been a surprise for the board and hard to deal with..

He cares that’s why he says what he does , he loves this club and doesn’t or never did see us as a cash cow , if you cared about something and someone and they go behind your back then your going to be bitter , typical fernades I bet he didn’t even have the gonads to sack himself but spent months having Mclowns ear , When is this fan base going to wake up and realise we will never do anything with him running us into the ground he cannot get fcuk all right and never learns
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Not sure who you're raging against here Paul. Very few fans would disagree TF (and Ruben, who never gets a mention despite being majority shareholder) have made a pig's ear out of a potentially great situation. But until someone better comes along with a wish to buy the club, there's not a lot of point in doing much is there? They're not running the club into the ground, they're not asset-stripping, they would finance the club more in terms of signings if they were allowed to. Just look at who's trying to buy Bolton from whom to see how really bad things could be in that regard. Fair enough, I wouldn't mind different owners, I wouldn't mourn the loss of TF particularly, but I'd still take this lot over the majority of owners about to be honest.

Wasn't a huge fan of Ollie last time round but I don't see anything in what he said in that interview that was classless or out of line. He was shoddily treated by the club when he'd done exactly as they asked.

Times saying SM could go this week... on 12:15 - Apr 1 by Northernr | Holloway and McClaren were both picked by the owners and LH and LF have had to get on with it. JFH you could lay at their door, but the last two managers have both been handed to them, and the case of Holloway handed to them against their wishes. |
"(In)the case of Holloway handed to them against their wishes." That's news to me and I'm surprised - I thought Holloway was about the only credible choice available to us at the time. Do you know who they wanted instead? It'd be a clue as to who LF and LH would want this time (and therefore of whether they are getting their way, which I hope they do.)

Can we be careful here, because if we're not careful I'm going to remember Steve Burtenshaw. Bugger. Too late.

Les didnt want Sherwood as Sherwood wanted assurances that he'll have money to spend. Cant see Sherwood wanting to come back.

Not a particularly sensible tweet imo. I’m sure he thinks the world of him but he’s just delivered 1 win in 15. Maybe better to pick the phone up and tell him rather than risk stirring it up by sticking it all over Twitter.

Did he? Strange considering today's line is that Les had given Sherwood the job and then TF came in and kiboshed it because of the social media backlash.
