The Realistic 2018/2019 Championship transfer thread. on 10:38 - Aug 7 with 3551 views | omarjack | I'm afraid our window is practically finished. The Woods for Clucas thing isn't going to work it seems. Tom James might be an option..but who can get excited about a 400k mid table League Two RB that just failed his medical with another club? Then the rest of the deals will be loans..a CB if Fede leaves (probably he will before September)..and a CF like Nmecha (we'll probably miss out so we'll get a less attractive option) Still..it could have been worse.

Sadly it's becoming desperate now. A week ago seems positive, we were close to signing a quality midfielder and loan of forward and defender with huge potential. With our track record of getting deals over the line looks like we'll fail but surprisingly save a lot of money by downgrading to free transfers.

The huge price we are paying as a club for Huw Jenkins scouting and negotiating abilities. We have the makings of a very good side but we're going to fall short due to expensive flops and their huge salaries prohibiting further vital strengthening.

In case you don't know..but Clare is nicknamed the English N'golo Kante..he's exactly the kind of midfielder who can change the tempo of the game to his club's advantage..Sheff Wed were going to sell him to Tottenham for + 25 m last season but he refused to go because Pochettino is in the habit of ruining bench players..just look at Janssen and Llorente. That's why he prefers to continue his development in the championship before sealing a move to the top 4 or the top 2 in Spain. We can sign him for free and use him for a couple of years before selling him for + 50 m. I'd say we should make it happen. P.S:Everything I just posted is BS and I'm just bored and bitter about missing out on Woods.

The Realistic 2018/2019 Championship transfer thread. on 23:49 - Aug 8 with 2880 views | Kerouac | ...Woo-Woo! Woo-Woo! Woo-Woo! Panic stations! Final day of the transfer window is upon us... New Manager Graham Potter (I reckon he's perfect...needs time, 2/3 seasons, and backing) Players we actually seem to be trying to move on... Wilfried Bony - £F*ck knows (AEK Athens or Besiktas, allegedly) ? Jordan Ayew - £12m? (Fulham, Celtic etc.) SURELY THIS TRANSFER IS IMMINENT Kyle Naughton - ? (Celtic) Luciano Narsingh - £? (Must be on his way with all these wingers coming in, Turkey?) Fede Fernandez - £6 - £10m? (Newcastle, FC Krasnodar) Sam Clucas - £8m - 12m? (Burnley/Wolves/Stoke/Fulham/Newcastle etc.) Jay Fulton - £450k !?!? (Reading) Jordi Amat - £4m - £5m(?) Likely Squad (based on what we know thus far) Goalkeepers 1) Kristoffer Nordfeldt - Senior Player 2) Erwin Mulder - (Senior Player but clearly a back-up...on low wages) Right-back 3) Kyle Naughton (?) - Senior Player 4) Connor Roberts Left-back 5) Martin Olsson - Senior Player 6) Jordi Govea Merlin Centre-back 7) Jordi Amat (?) - Senior Player 8) Mike Van der Hoorn - Senior Player 9) Fede Fernandez (?) - Senior Player 10) Joe Rodon / Cian Harries? Defensive Midfield 11) Jay Fulton 12) Sam Clucas (?) - Senior Player Box to box Midfielder 13) Leroy Fer (?) - Senior Player 14) Tom Carroll - Senior Player Playmaker 15) Bersant Celina - Senior Player 16) Yann Dhanda Right-wing 17) Joel Asoro 18) Nathan Dyer - Senior Player Left-wing 19) Barrie McKay - Senior Player 20) Jefferson Montero (?) - Senior Player Striker 21) Wilfried Bony ? (Target man) - Senior Player 22) Oliver McBurnie (Poacher) 23) Jordan Ayew (Want away waster) - Senior Player Utility Forwards 24) Wayne Routledge - Senior Player 25) Luciano Narsingh(?) - Senior Player Wildcards 26) Matt Grimes 27) Daniel James 28) George Byers 29) Steven Benda (3rd choice Keeper) Players I think we need 1) Centre-half Someone experienced. A leader. A calm head. A captain. (This position now appears to be URGENTLY required...the only senior centre-half we can be sure is intending to stay is Mike van der Hoorn). I now reckon we will need to sign 2 centre-halves by the end of the transfer window. Newspaper links: Scott McKenna (£3.5m...good player but only 21. We would need 1 more experienced centre-back if both Mawson and Amat leaves) Now linked with Danny Amartey (Leicester City) too, who can fill in at CB. Also linked with a Loan deal for young, Spurs, American Centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers. 2) Defensive Midfielder Someone experienced. A leader. Add to the shopping list; works his nuts off, is aggressive, does the simple things well. Though if we can't find such a player who wants to play for us we could do a lot worse than Ethan Ampadu. Newspaper links: Harry Arter Now linked with Danny Amartey (Leicester City) too, who can fill in at DM,CB,RB Ryan Woods is Potter's number 1 target and will wear No.4 if we are prepared to pay Brentford £6.5m-7m tomorrow. Tenuous link to Tom Huddlestone too. 3) Striker Bony is injured and will most likely be loaned out. McBurnie needs competition for the shirt. Most likely looking for a young loanee here. Lukas Nmecha is dragging his heels on signing for us. Players we seem to be signing (according to the media at least) 1) Right-Back Tom James is apparently waiting on us shifting some millionaires so we can bring him in for £350k (Probably a Naughton replacement...makes sense to start Roberts and Olsson with James on the bench, achieves a big cut in wages and some extra transfer funds in the pot. West Brom now linked as well though). 2) Centre-Back Surely we are going to replace Mawson and Bartley (£19 - £24m in and about £3.3m a year saved in wages) with one Scott McKenna (£3.5 - £5m, approx. £1.2m a year in wages)...go on Huw/Pearlman/Potter, you know it makes sense. 3) DM / CB / RB Now linked with Danny Amartey (Leicester City) too, versatile. 4) Right-Winger Will Huw swoop for Albert Adomah after what seems like 8 years of following him around forlornly? 16th July - Following Bartley's departure to West Brom there emerges a story in the press (possibly planted by an agent) linking us with the Baggies' Matt Phillips. IMO Phillips is exactly the type of player we need...not holding my breath on this one though. Linked today with a young man who is out of contract (tribunal fee will need to be paid though, given his age)…Sean Clare. 5) Striker Potter must be hoping to move on Bony (on Loan), will this be too late for us to make a bid for Saman Ghoddos ( from his old club Ostersunds) though? Also linked with Britt Assombalonga but that is unlikely, as he will cost decent money, Mbaye Diagne and Fernando Forriesteri . Players we have actually signed = £5.5m - £7.5m + 3 x senior player wage 1) Jordi Govea Merlin (U23?) 2) Yann Dhanda (U23?) 3) Joel Asoro - £2m 4) Bersant Celina - £3 - £4m 5) Barrie McKay - £500k Players we have actually sold/released/Loaned = £33m - £38m + 9 x senior player wages 1) Ki Seung-Yeung - £0 (Newcastle Utd.) 2) Angel Rangel - £0 3) Leon Britton - £0 4) Roque Mesa - £7m (Sevilla) 5) Lukazs Fabianski - £7m (West Ham) 6) Adam King - LOANED (to Peterborough) 7) Kyle Bartley - £4m (Could be £6m if West Brom get promoted) 8) Borja Baston - LOANED (to Alaves) 9) Andre Ayew - LOANED (to Fenerbache) 10) Alfie Mawson - £15 - 20m (to Fulham) AGE WATCH Goalkeepers (Average Age = 25.7) 1) Kristoffer Nordfeldt - 29yrs old 2) Erwin Mulder - 29 3) Steven Benda - 19 Defenders (Average Age = 24.5) 4) Kyle Naughton - 29 5) Connor Roberts - 22 6) Martin Olsson - 30 7) Jordi Govea Merlin - 19 8) Jordi Amat - 26 9) Mike Van der Hoorn - 25 10) Fede Fernandez - 29 11) Cian Harries - 21 12) Joe Rodon - 20 Midfield (Average Age = 23.6) 13) Jay Fulton - 24 14) Sam Clucas - 27 15) Leroy Fer - 28 16) Tom Carroll - 26 17) Bersant Celina - 21 18) Yann Dhanda - 19 19) Matt Grimes - 22 20) George Byers - 22 Wingers (Average Age = 25.7) 21) Joel Asoro - 19 22) Nathan Dyer - 30 23) Barrie McKay - 23 24) Jefferson Montero - 28 25) Luciano Narsingh - 27 26) Wayne Routledge - 33 27) Daniel James - 20 Strikers (Average Age = 26) 28) Wilfried Bony - 29 29) Oliver McBurnie - 22 30) Jordan Ayew - 26 SQUAD AVERAGE AGE = 25 [Post edited 9 Aug 2018 23:58]

..And that's exactly why Huw would consider bringing him here. We all know how he thinks.. "He tore his hamstring? That'll shave off some of his value!" "But Huw the injury will take long to heal, plus it might reoccur etc.." "Silence..1.5 m bid incoming.."

The Realistic 2018/2019 Championship transfer thread. on 09:42 - Aug 9 with 2645 views | omarjack | After the Jordan Ayew loan disappointment..If Fernandez and Amat also seek a move so badly to the point where we'll either have to accept minimal fees or go on loan then we're really screwed. We still have 3 weeks technically to figure some stuff out. But the season is already on so we better wrap it up in a week tops. We need to keep the entire squad intact now..no outgoings other than Clucas of course. I'd even keep Fulton..not worth offloading for 500k. We need to get Woods done. We have this habit of f*cking up deals with players they actually want to join us..Chadli and Arias come to mind. If We don't get Woods then we need a decent B plan..Chirivella? Unproven and inexperienced..So I really have no clue.. If Fede and Amat stay then signing a new CB be hanged..Our CB trio would be superb at this level. But a new Striker is also a must..probably on loan as we're more strapped for cash than ever now that the 2 Ayews are out on loan..Nmecha? It doesn't look like he's in a hurry to decide where he wants to go..Do we have a plan B here too?

Will be interesting to see how this goes. before transfer deadline day I thought we had a pretty good transfer window (just needing a striker and a cm) also the Sheff Utd gave me hope that this season it would be different... but then deadline day just turned everything around for the worse. But they could turn it back around if they make loan signings. ideal scenerio: we manage to get that woods player on loan with a option to buy in january etc. then confirm it as a transfer in janaury. we sign a striker on loan, because only having 2 is a very dangerous way (especially when 1 of the players spends most of the season injured) and even if we sign 1 cb on loan... I feel we are still 1 short.. defence went from being our strongest are to possibly the weakest in 1 day.. incredible.

It's worth pondering what Potter can do in these circumstances. 4-5-1 --------------------------- Nordfeldt ------------------------------ -------------- Naughton ------- van der Hoorn --------------- Roberts -------------------------------------------------- Olsson --------------------------- Fulton ---------------------------------- --------------- Celina --------------- Carroll --------------------- Dyer ------------------------------------------------------ McKay -------------------------- McBurnie ------------------------------ Subs; Mulder, John, Harries, Grimes, Dhanda, Montero & Asoro (if he's fit) 3-6-1 --------------------------- Nordfeldt ----------------------------- ------------------------ van der Hoorn -------------------------- --------- Naughton --------------------- John (?) -------------- Roberts ------------ Fulton ---------------------------- Olsson ------------------------------------ Carroll ------------------------ ------------- Celina ---------------------- McKay ---------------- -------------------------- McBurnie ------------------------------ Subs; Mulder, Harries, Grimes, Dhanda, Montero, Dyer & Asoro (if he's fit) If McBurnie gets injured or is off form...and Bony is still not available...I guess McKay or Asoro could be tried up top. Yep. I think that they overvalued the players they were trying to shift on and the buyers market they were going into and suspect that they were looking for at least another £30-35 million more. They were hoping for bidding wars on Mawson and Jordan Ayew which didn’t happen, and they have probably gone for the best part of £20 million less than they hoped. Add in £10 million for Andre and the fees shaved off all the others and that is easy £30 million + Reports suggest that any loans won’t be at the top end either. So feck knows what a realistic loan thread will look like. How quickly the optimism from last Saturday has evaporated. We can’t afford VDH or Mcburnie to catch a cold. No wonder Potter is staying away from the club if there is the possibility he has a bug.

There are alot of players we could potentially get on loan from the big clubs, but we probably wont make a loan signing.

The Realistic 2018/2019 Championship transfer thread. on 21:44 - Aug 11 with 1948 views | omarjack | So..Today's win revives a bit of hope again despite the deadline day shambles. We're expecting 3-4 loan deals before September. We need 2 CBs (although Rodon proved that he can be an effective 4th choice) 1 DMF/CMF type of player..we missed out on Woods so we'll have to fill in the gap. And of course..a CF.. CB: -Tomas Kalas -Cameron Carter-Vickers -Michael Hector -Ethan Ampadu CMF: -Pedro Chirivella -Hamza Chodhury CF: -Dominik Solanke Can't really think of any other potentials right now..
