At this point, I’d rather Ashley than Gao. But I’d hope we could do better than either of those. It is weird that Kat couldn’t have done better then Gao, who so far has done absolutely nothing but sanction the selling of our best player. If he had instead to show his intensions flown VvD to his mansion in China and personali given him a new £200k a week contract then no doubt the opinions on our anonymous owner would be a bit better. | |

The evidence so far is absolutely nothing, Gao appears to have borrowed money more due to the fact that it is not that easy to transfer money out of China at the moment, the Glaziers for example when they bought Manchester united borrowed money leaveraged against the club, Gao so far hasnt done that.
So far Gao has taken a back seat, why do you think he has done that ? could it be because he sees it as being well run and to start with at least doesn't see that much needs changing, that is good business practice, would you rather him come in and sack the men who have made us for the first time in our history a regular top 8 club, call Reed and Krueger all you want, but the stats say they are the most succesful people in the boardroom in our history.
Why does Gao need to put money in, we have a transfer kitty from the sale of Van Dijk, the issue is spending it, so far Premier League clubs have done 11 incoming deals, just about the only two you will have heard of the players is Van Dijk and Ross Barkley to Chelsea.
That is unless you have followed Greek football and seen all of Konstantinos Mavropanos's career total 16 games for Giannina or perhaps Fousseni Diabate's career in the lower leagues of France led you to recommend him to Leicester.

Why does the club always have to sell before it can buy? Like Marcus bringing in SLR, Gao could have used VvD as his marquee ‘signing’. But instead VvD appears to have just been seen as an asset that was devotedly going to be sold. VvD aside there have been no signings at all! | |

The club is currently in serious decline at all levels from the first team through to the U23s and U18s. Judging from their results, we now have one of the worst run academies in the top 2 divisions. It doesn't look well run to anyone apart from you, Nick.
Sadly, it looks like the rest of Mr Gao's business empire is in decline too. The share price of Lander Sports Development has dropped 43% in the last 12 months and it's still falling.

I dont understand Nicks obsession with the top 10. Anyone that thinks last seasons 8th finish was a credit to club is massively mistaken. Had the results been marginally different in the last 2 weeks of the season, then we would have finished 13th. What it has done is mask the fact that have been in decline for 12 months.
Out of the remaining 3 top finishes i would give the credit to the manager rather than the boardroom. |  |

Exactly we only finished above bournemouth due to goal difference + were 6 points above 17th place, Yes the stats say 8th place finish But to just look at that + a cup final appearance Is misleading | |

Our most succesful season was 1975/76 because we won our only trophy, but it was not our most succesful spell in that it was inconsistent for most of indeed imagine the meltdown now if we had Lionel Messi in our side and only managed 6th & 8th in his two seasons people would be demanding the incompetent McMenenemy be sacked.
Mind you as you pointed out yesterday in 1977 we managed to beat one of the top sides in Europe at the time in an FA Cup replay, I am surprised that Brian Clough managed to keep his job that season managing one of the top sides in Europe yet only managing to get them to 3rd in the second tier of English football and an FA Cup exit to Saints who despite being in their most succesful period ever were the 51st highest club in England that season.

You can read the record books as you proved with your knowledge of Bolton Wanderers league finishes a decade or so ago, you just like to interpret them to suit your argument, I have nothing wrong with that except when you try to claim something that is untrue .
The academies are well run, the problem is that we are now suffering the fact that when we were signing players for the under 18 ide now back a decade ago when they were 9/10/11, we were in serious financial problems meaning that the best prospects wouldnt come here.
You say the U23 side is badly run but forget to point out that many of those who would be eligible for it now came into the first team very early and are now in our first team squad or someone elses, ironically back in 1985 -89 we would claim that the academy was the best, because it had the likes of Le Tiis and Shearer etc, yet it wasnt actually well run at all, one of the coaches was allegedly molesting players and of the kids 11-14 who were being signed in the late 80's very few actually made it when they signed professional contracts at 18.
We will find out how good the academy is now in about 5-6 years
It looks well run to me because I have been there and seen it, I have seen what they are doing, if you have then tell me what you saw that makes it badly run ?

Even with your view of Lander you try and distort the bigger picture, you say Lander has dropped 43%, thats not in the last 12 months, thats actually from its position in October 2016 well before it got involved with Saints, in the last year it has remained pretty stable, in fact if we look at the last five years, the first 2 saw the share price below its current value, followed by a sharp rise of of 158% between April and June 2015 followed by a 50% drop within the following two months. The a year or so of swinging share rises and drops
Since then its been fairly constant in the last year, although as stated it has been prone to massive ups and down over the past three years, possibly due to selling off land and signing contracts etc. | |

No its not misleading, the only table that matters is the final one, a couple of years ago we only finished 3 points behind 4th place, but according to many on here the club was in decline and disarray, yet the following season it had aguably its 5th best ever season in its history.

Other than making money, what’s the point in developing your own players when the likes of Liverpool buy them? The current system is crap. We are a victim of our own success. There should be a rule that each club should have so many academy players in first team. Then clubs can be run properly instead of buying in players. |  |
