FA Cup 3rd Round 20:09 - Dec 3 with 7858 viewsrochedale

Ok, so here we are again, not often we can say we are looking to the 3rd round draw. I'm sure I recall, I'm probably wrong, that when we played Palace, that year was only the 4th time we had reached the FA Cup 3rd Round. How many 3rd rounds has KH now took us to? I'm sure it's either 3 or 4, if so, that's an awesome record in itself, for us...

Last time.

Originally I said that rather than appeasing fcum and having the low ticket prices for that game, it should have been normal prices. 442 made the fair point that the prices benefited Dale fans as well. Therefore I said, that instead the club could have reduced a league game around that time instead , to Benefit Dale fans, and boost an otherwise lowly attended crowd, and that ST holders who would not have seen any benefit with that, could have had a reduction in the cup game instead.

Which Dale fans?

The gate money is shared for cup ties, meaning both clubs and the FA would have needed to agree to any reductions.

Also, given the prices were already reduced, Dale's share would have been reduced even more.

Furthermore, I doubt any season ticket holders would be peevish enough to expect an even further reduction for an FA Cup tie, just because they were a season ticket holder.

They would have expected to pay for an FA Cup tie, were Dale to be drawn at home, but in the event, they ended-up paying less than they probably thought they would have to anyway.

Were you a season ticket holder at that time?

Yes I know, therefore we could have had full price tickets for the game, thus increasing revenue for all which was my original point.

See above. Just the ST holders would have seen a reduction in ticket prices, using a voucher.

Not saying they would, however I believe they deserve to benefit where possible in some kind of reduction, if others have done so, i.e. Rewarding them.

See above.

No I wasn't, even though I was going to majority of home games at that time.

The point I clumsily tried to make, was that I wasn't really happy about appeasing fcum, and would rather have seen another way to look after Dale fans, and still rake in a lot of money from what was always going to be a money spinner of a cup tie.

I doubt 'appeasing FCUM' was on any agenda.

The league game that the club decided to reduce the ticket prices for instead of the fcum cup tie.

But that was the whole point, it did appease the fcum fans, as fcum was or is allegedly a fan run club.

No, the whole point was to maximise the attendance by reducing the admission money, as we have done for numerous other FA Cup ties since.

I accept that , and it worked, and it works nowadays too. I just put forward an alternative to reducing the cup game and instead reducing a league game prices instead. Only put forward this, due to my dislike of fcum, no other reason, and quite frankly would not be a way to run a club.
In general I am of course a firm believer in reducing prices, but mainly to benefit home fans, and to boost home attendance and atmosphere etc, and enabling the selling of more pies, etc including match programmes.

So you're recommending the club do something, that is no way to run a club, for the sole reason of not liking a specific club but they should probably have not done it anyway in the first place which,of course, they didn't. I'm not messing now btw.

It was a bonus that more of their fans turned up. It meant the songs were louder for our bench to join in with.
