He could also give us the option of playing him as a defensive midfielder sitting in front of the back four, a bit like we tried with Amat last year a few times without too much success. He seems good on the ball and is able to pick a pass and does get forward. Could be a potential Leon replacement in the future with the added benefit of height when defending and in the box at corners and set pieces. May be even the box to box player we haven't really had since Pratley (although Fer supposedly is one).

I wonder where Mbodj is going to then as Anderlecht fans seem to think he's off, Everton?

Hahaha, Ash gonna take him under his wing you think

Be interesting to see where he goes though, just to see if he's any good apart from the odd clips we've seen of him.

Some reports are still stating that Mbodji will join us before the window closes for the reported 7M Euros.

We did that with Williams and Williams did it for Wales.

Judging by Fer's fitness levels the only box-to-box he's doing is Pringles.

Unless we are planning to go 3 at the back I'd be surprised, if we are going to spend again I'd rather a goal scoring midfielder to cover Glyfi

I got a good feeling this guys going to be class. Club captain at an early age with a club that is known for having a production line of good centre halves (atleast in modern times).

Get him signed up Huw

I understand that we have been scouting Alfi for a couple of seasons. Since he first went to Wycombe.

Would be a waste to bring on both Mawson and Mbodji, when we could still use another wing and a backup for Gylfi.

True. Thing is though, 12 short months ago we were being pointed towards the top 4 by our Baldy-Ginger axis and our "transfer best buy of the close season". Doubt a kid's contract situation to replace our irreplaceable Captain Immense was high on the visible list.

Totally agree, but if were trailing someone when he was free we should have got him. But then again Monk thought Bartley was the best thing since sliced bread and maybe Mawson was not his type of player.

We might not even be signing mbodji as a centre back as he plays defensive mid as well.

My mate is a scout for a Championship team up North and his comments regarding Mawson were :-

Seen him loads of times .. Recommended him to my club last year but was out of there wage structure ... He is a cultured centre half .... Comfortable on ball and will suit Swansea who try to pass there way out of defence ... I think an excellent buy.

He is an ex pro and is pretty accurate on his analysis of players.
Also this report from the Mail is fairly accurate as well.
