Monk out. on 17:27 - Nov 21 by shandyjack | We tried once but unfortunately it was Bartley the donkey and it put us 1-0 Down |
So, it wasn't anything to do with the ball bouncing off of Ki straight to Stanislas and the fact there was no one marking King in the middle of the Penalty Area then?
Monk out. on 18:24 - Nov 21 with 2639 views | michumagic9 | Brendan Rodgers or Harry Redknapp are the only two that could replace him IMO

The pass to Ki was sh1t which gave him no chance then we were on back foot from there.no on was marking King as they weren't expecting Bartley f up the way he did

Monk out. on 18:32 - Nov 21 with 2590 views | Gundog | Just got back from a game that I thought could be Garys game changer, sadly I was mistaken because I thought that Monk could turn the tide { or rather hoping that Monk could turn the tide) but it turned out to be the usual fecking sheit and gradually getting worse. Any person that witnessed that crap tonight will be justified in calling for Gary to stand down, or am I the only person willing to make that call?

Monk out. on 18:54 - Nov 21 with 2492 views | Tim_Harry | He seems to be convinced that Ayew can play some sort of hybrid centre forward/winger role. As if playing him in two positions equals two players for the price of one. Instead we've got a player who's a fantastic striker playing half of the game out of position. Ayew's centre forward play is excellent. He plays well in the build up, holding it up well and keeping the move going. And we all know how good he is in front of goal. Unfortunately he has no qualities to his game that can convince me that he's any sort of winger. We're always lacking width and effectively attacking with a narrower pitch because of it. The centre of the field is congested and the man on the ball always has less options. We're such an easy team to defend against nowadays. I've always been all for Monk. Everything you heard from players and staff over the years seemed to suggest that he was destined for management. Intelligent and well respected. Unfortunately his tactical acumen is pretty much non-existent. I'll always see him as a club legend for the part he played in our rise up the divisions. Unfortunately he's not the right man to keep us where we are. We've still got a squad that's more than capable of a top half finish. We just need the right man to set them up properly.

He walked out on Marseille after a month. Done a great job with Athletic although he's a proper control freak by all accounts, not sure how that'd play out with Jenkins.

Monk out. on 18:18 - Nov 21 by Nookiejack | Passing style comes from being able to play out from the back. Bartley is not suited to being able to play out from back - hence we don't have a passing style if he is in the team. He does have certain strengths though is physically strong, does get stuck in with regards to tacking and does seem more of a threat from set-pieces compared to Williams and Fernandez. Don think he suits us though. |
There's another laugh now. When was the last time our centre halve threatened at corners? 2006?

Barely on a par with that Koeman fella we didn't want either.

I respect his achievements but I don't think Huw would ever appoint someone like Bielsa, does 'Loco' even speak any English? I think Rodgers is the best candidate right now all things considered, whether he'd come to us though is a different question.

Now why didn't I think of that lol. Could be just what he and we need right now. He does well gets a bigger job, we do well and get a good PL finish. To answer Winnie and Warwick's point - if Jenkins is uncomfortable handing over team affairs to a real manager then he should let MM be the figurehead. We are in the big time now and if we want to stay there then the board have to let a new manager have complete control

The board need to show some balls and get it done ASAP. Results are not good and the performances are shocking, this is not over a 2/3 game period now and the confidence is getting eaten into more and more.

Monk out. on 19:48 - Nov 21 with 1893 views | FearOfAJackPlanet | Today wasn't good.....at all... In some ways I hope Garry stays and turns it around as a) it's obvious from last season that he can get a team playing well if circumstances permit, and b) it'll cost sh*tloads to pay him off after handing him a new contract in the summer... Saying that, I can't deny the mess we'rein at the moment, and it doesn't look like ending soon. We are utterly shapeless and I have no idea what we're trying to do most of the time, and neither do the players by the look of it. Honestly, how are we trying to engineer a goal? We don't play through the middle - we just play it back to defence, and we don't play it out wide...we just...wander rather aimlessly around at half the pace of the opposition, pass back to Fab who lumps it upfield and we lose possession. Repeat until you want to claw your eyes out (or fall asleep). As someone else said earlier - changing the team isn't much use if they're just going to play the same shapeless, ill-disciplined, lazy way as before. Bournemouth played some wonderful football at times, fair play. A committed, cohesive unit playing a refined, well-honed style of football with great energy. Pretty much the opposite of Swansea City for the past 3 months.

I wouldn't know but he'd be mad to come back now after blowing it at Liverpool. If he didn't win the League and FA Cup in his first season back he be beaten with the failure stick.
