Malky says sorry to Tan on 15:31 - May 9 by reddythered

Tan unhappy after summer. That's documented by his own statements.
Moody fired, paid off for the year.
Mackay fired, goes the legal route as a man of principles using media PR.
Macky turns tact, apologising profusely. Don't see such a man of principles doing that since he was so gungho in defending himself and Moody's activities.

EDIT: The whole "Tan throwing money to save face" predicates upon the fact Tan cares. Given Tan had previously stated the truth about Mackay would come out in time, don't see him suddenly capitulating.
Settlement to stop the legal action, which was almost certainly Mackay's goal. After all, went to court could well have been damaging to Mackay and Moody but also to the club since both were working for CCFC. Maybe the fallout from that was to be avoided.

Do you really believe what you write ?

Tan is a lunatic ...... MacKay wants a job.

Its not rocket science.

Why digging? If compensation was paid, there's a bloody simple rationale to get the case dropped, even if it was watertight against Mackay and Moody. Summer activities annoyed Tan to the extent Moody was fired and later Mackay. Could well have been perfectly valid to fire both. If the activities leading to the firings could have adverse consequences for the club, would make perfect sense for the club to settle with leverage over Mackay. Let's not forget Moody didn't go the legal route.

Also, granted, it's the Daily Heil but they've been spot on about things at the club this season - mostly due to the leaks..

Their claim is no compensation was received. If that's true, you'd have to be a fool to somehow believe everything was Tan's fault...

I forgot taking legal action meant Mckay was unavailable for work. I also forgot that Tan, upset at 35m being spunked away, would then throw good money after bad to silence Mackay whilst getting the written equivalent of a blowjob off him.

Fact is, people find it easier to believe the "Tan is evil" agenda. Personally, I'd love the full details to come out. I doubt they ever will.

You'll have to forgive me not taking seriously a report that states that a manager who was quite publicly sacked won't receive a penny in compensation and was forced to apologise for getting sacked.

Well, like I said the Daily Heil have been very accurate with regards to us. Would be karma if that was leaked to them.

Maybe Mackay was using the legal route to try to leverage a payoff. Maybe the club had evidence that would show the firing to be deserved, maybe damage Mackays reputation irreparably. Who knows?

It's easy for the media to blame clueless foreign owner. Lazy journalism.

Amazing that nobody wants to seem to accept that maybe, just maybe Mackay was at fault.

We have a pretty good idea.

Manager had contract. Club terminate contract. Club try to avoid paying out on contract. Manager starts legal proceedings. Parties come to settlement, which required manager says something nice in the press and won't do any harm with chances with future employer either.

It's a bit cliche these days really.

For what? Being sacked? Being crap at your job is not enough for breach of contract I'm afraid.

Edit - We do have something in common though. I too think Tan is epic.

So Mackay did something in the summer transfer window so bad he was fired...in December. Nothing to do with Tan's unreasonable expectation on performances/results then.

Yeah...pretty sure he didn't write that.

Would have been put together by Tan and Mackay asked to put his name to it.

Well, I suppose there are many business sectors where being responsible for wasting 35m means you wouldn't be fired. Was Mackay fired for breach of contract specifically, or for other reasons?

I don't think Tan is epic. Don't think he's evil either. My point is that Mackay and Moody played their PR media route throughout the season, prevailing view being evil foreigner clearly at fault, good old salt of the earth Brit harshly dealt with. Like I said, lazy journalism - I sure as hell don't remember Ridsdale getting as much criticism. Maybe, just maybe Mackay isn't the saint with the halo that the media have portrayed.

I'd have preferred this to go to court to get the facts out there.

That sentence makes no sense. Someone broke the contract ... either Mackay did or the club did. If the club did then Mackay is owed. If he did in some way then he isn't. Pretty straightforward really.

I think Tan's great. Proper pantomime villain. I even agree that there's far too much focus on the stupid things he's done when he's back both his managers to the hilt this season. However I for one am very happy he's nowhere near SCFC.

Moody was initially fired. Head of player recruitment after all. After that, seems Dalman acted between Tan and Mackay.

Tan's unreasonable expectation? Ah yes. That's the argument used regularly on Annis' board. Someone there claimed Tan expected a top 6 season based upon the spending yet spectacularly failed to produce any evidence for that claim when challenged.

I'd not say it was unreasonable for the performances to be better given the money spent far exceeded that of Hull, Palace et al.

Who mentioned top 6? It is unreasonable to expect anything more than survival in your first season in the PL. If you are getting that, than anything else is a bonus.

If it was as simple as "wah, I don't like you, you're fired", then I'd agree. Fact is, there are plenty of things that would result in instant dismissal from the workplace.

Daily Heil's claim, if true, indicates Mackay certainly did something to justify that dismissal without compensation being due.

Tan's certainly been portrayed as a pantomime villain. Like I said, lazy journalism. Is he barking mad? Yeah, some of his comments have been cringeworthy at best. I just feel our views aren't necessarily that far apart; Tan backed Mackay, a manager he didn't appoint and didn't rate ( his comments about Watford finishing 16th, 17th, saying Mackay lucked into the job ). It seems something had to have happened for things to kick off the way that they did; Modygate re the team list certainly doesn't reflect well upon him and by association Mackay.

I'd not be unhappy if Tan went, we were well run, returned to blue etc. Right now, that's naive to expect to happen anytime soon. Maybe since Tan wants to be more hands on, the club may be run better on a fiscal basis. I hope so, anyway.

Someone on AAMB ( it wasn't the famous AutHOr from memory ) claimed Tan wanted top 6 football. Everyone suddenly believed that to be a fact because damn it, someone posted it on a message board. Claimed to have read it in an interview, which they funnily enough couldn't provide any evidence for.

Indeed, Tan was quoted in the Malaysian media with somewhat less lofty ambitions.

Granted, hoping for 10th-13th was unrealistic imo, but hardly the expected position that was claimed by some.

If the Daily Heil claim of no compensation is actually true, it would indicate that rumour was true.

The problem is with a lack of transparecy and the presence of confidentiality clauses it's impossible to do anything other than look at what is in the public domain.

Tan unhappy after summer; given some of his statements, livid would be a better word. Not difficult to work out the transfers we made in summer, not difficult to presume the summer spending was the issue.

I hope there was nothing relating to specific transfers; could lead to action against the club. A cynic would point out that would be one reason for total confidentiality.

Although I hate to say this, both Malky and Tan are behaving sensibly here - a court case would be a costly distraction for both of them. Time for them both to move on, and Malky can now become the next Norwich manager to get them promoted from the Championship (which is what he does best).

From what my Malaysian students tell me about him, getting on the wrong side of vt is not really advisable. He will, allegedly throw everything at you that money can buy and is utterly ruthless. Obviously they, nor I are alleging anything illegal.
