God knows why but I was at the crewe away game and Dave Thomas questioning my sanity for attending. Reality is back then was , I had football mates, regular mates who followed other clubs and some who transitioned into both. It’s a beautiful thing. Bumped into a few last time I was back.

Who’s your prem team gets constantly asked.

Anyone playing you know who I reply.

You must be an Add another prem club nauseum, the reply.

Bulgarian guy asked me Sunday knowing I followed a London team. Told him he’d never guess. Got it 2nd attempt. Palace 1st. Asked him his reasoning. Went abstract due to me saying he’d never get it.
Asked him if he was part of the brain drain out of Eastern Europe. He laughed confessionally.

City v Arsenal

Champion has been bugging me for years with his ROONEY high pitch scream when someone shoots.
He’s been caught out a few times with players with more then 2 syllable names.

Waiting patiently when he fcuks it up with a weird name or double barreled surname.

Sadly he’s on US tv a lot. Don’t get me started though about Tim fing Howard.

Commentator just mentioned that it’s a cracking atmosphere.
Not if you’re watching it on paramount+ in the US of A. Turned the crowd off.
Can’t believe it’s on tv here to be honest.
The days of listening for the results on the world service or getting a paper in the week a distant age.

I was in those seats on the side opposite the East stand with a ch3/se@ mate. They kept singing ‘we’re going to shoot Tommy Langley’ to the tune of one telemela, check spelling.
Scored. Came over and they went mental. Rough place SB in those days.

Wonderful.

Hibbitt nut megging Stanley, Hibbitt could play,
Referees looking like Max Wall,
Newcastle fans singing ‘you’re going to get your f ing heads kicked in’ too how many rangers fans?
Outside of the boot passes,
Home fans applauding and appreciating great goals,
Any excuse to go on the pitch by a youngster in either a parka or high waisted flares and bover boots,
Sideburns,
Shorts that aren’t basket ball ones,
No sponsors on any shirt.

QPR only discussion - English fans vs American fans
at 19:03 9 Sep 2024

ESPN last few seasons had hardly any crowd noise. Joyless to watch. Luton game on Paramount+ had the crowd turned down but nothing like ESPN.

Watched a few Arsenal games and commentators often apologizing for the language that seems to come from the same bloke behind them. Very funny as well.

Don’t think it’s Kier Starmer.

Going to game and watching it on tv, night and day experience for me.
So more invested in the experience when being there. Went to Southampton and Plymouth at home games last year and enjoyed every minute. LR has a real magic behind it when we the collective are at one. My Watford mate came with me to the Plymouth game and agreed.

It’s the thing I miss the most about living here is going to football, and currant buns/bread with a crust.

£1 to win 3-2 in the bookies at Brammal lane a while back. Collected £50

Also bet on us to lose 3-0 against Forest in a fa cup game at LR, again a while back. We were losing 3-0 then got a goal back in the last minute. My Dad thought I was bonkers.

Always fascinated where terrace chants tunes originated. Off the top of my head.
