| News Comment | Gloss rubbing off Neil's Norwich reign - Interview at 14:59:15
I'm sorry but Norwich should be able to put out a decent defence from that list of players: Klose, Martin, Bennett, Bassong, Whittaker and Olssen is a pretty solid bunch for the championship - especially the fullbacks. |
| News Comment | Heart over head or deceptively shrewd? Column at 12:31:57
Great balanced piece (as always). I think the reason for the change was purely you're last point - a lot of our players have shown flashes of real potential, but as individuals and a team we just haven't improved at all over JFH's time in charge. I think the board felt they'd delivered a squad that's good enough to compete with anyone and start to improve - not just set out for 0-0 draws all the time and then utterly capitulate to the big boys. The question is though - if we are sitting 12th at this time next season, playing more attractive but still inconsistent football - what happens to Ollie? |
| News Comment | QPR defenders the April Fools as Boro continue Sky curse - report at 09:35:20
I still largely enjoyed the game despite the face palm inducing start to the second half and final result obviously. Smithies is brilliant though - i'd always heard he was a solid championship keeper but he's much more than that. If we'd done the sensible thing and played him all season, i wonder if he'd be in the England squad ahead of the pretty average Heaton now? |
| News Comment | QPR shake London derby monkey in fine style — report at 09:13:26
Great report as always! Hoillett is never going to re-sign for a 70% pay cut, so it's a bit of a non-starter. Hopefully El Khayati and Washington will come up to speed over the last 9 games and will be well positioned to push on next season. |
| News Comment | The long road from Austin to Washington — Signing at 09:57:21
I've not seen the guy play, but nice to hear some positive assessments about Washington from various people. I do think we've overpaid, but then again there was clearly serious interest and bids from other clubs, so it;s good we've gone out and got our man. |
| News Comment | Charlie Austin, the atypical QPR striker - Column at 09:43:35
Great player and a great pro, wish him all the best! Shame his swansong at QPR wasn't the Brighton game, but the few weeks of phantom injuries when we were desperately short. |
| News Comment | Unwanted inheritance - Preview at 13:22:30
"Marcus Olsson has the trots and is doubtful. Nathan Delfouneso (afraid of the dark), Danny Guthrie (tattoo appointment) and Fode Koita (searching for consonants) are all unavailable." Love this! |
| News Comment | Leadbitter’s late penalty sinks battling R’s - Report at 10:01:44
Good report, i'm not too dispirited about that performance and Hall was really encouraging. I was worried when Toszer was brought on, we just got deeper and deeper. Would have like to have seen Doughty instead for his energy, but when consecutive managers don't pick you there is probably a reason! |
| News Comment | Green’s latest meltdown costs QPR dearly - report at 10:27:33
I have it in my mind that we always seem to be poor after International breaks, although i can't back it up with facts. Bad day at the office for Ramsey and the players basically, but newly built team can be pretty inconsistent. Hopefully we'll improve for the next match! |
| News Comment | An odd turn of events - Transfer deadline at 11:11:16
Great article. I think the lack of action this transfer window will surely be another nail in it's inevitable coffin. Although given the amount of football they are losing to BT, Sky need to hype up whatever they have left i guess! |
| News Comment | QPR can kick-start new era by breaking cup hoodoo — preview at 09:23:54
A prediction for a win in an early League Cup round to lower league oppo!? Madness! Absolutely no incentive to rest players here, play the first team sans the soon to be departed Austin and Phillips. I wouldn't play Kpekawa or Furlong either, they'll get plenty of minutes off the bench in the league given our current squad depth. I don't expect a win but a goal for Poulter or Chery would be a bonus to get them up and running. |
| News Comment | QPR's work in progress gets harsh lesson in Championship realities - report at 09:44:56
Good report, it's going to be interesting to see how the team/Ramsey reacts to this set back. To early to make any other judgements really - if you're feeling negative you can see your fears being realised, if you're feeling positive you can focus on Mackie, first 20 mins etc. |
| News Comment | LFW End of Term Report 14/15 — Midfielders at 09:33:11
Agree on almost everything you say, but i think you are going a bit easy on Fer for his workrate. Amazingly it looks like probably only Henry will still be around from the main midfielders! (We might still be paying Sandro and Hoillett but i doubt they'll play!) |
| News Comment | Barton costs QPR in crucial match yet again - Report at 11:11:05
Gutting not to get a point after putting in such a decent effort. There is nothing more to be said regarding Barton - i'd rather play Doughty or Sandro (if ever fit) than hope for one of Barton's rare good performances. |
| News Comment | Sublime Kranjcar ensures unhappy return for Hughes — report at 10:58:04
Happy enough with the point given the poor performance (and any point is a good one in a relegation battle). While normally sacking the manager is just a sticky plaster attempting to cover up a host of problems - i honestly feel that if we had a proper manager and coaching staff in place we have the players to do well in this league. Last time in the prem under Redknapp we just gave up, then we sleepwalked through the Championship after throwing cash at it without ever putting in a decent performance and now again we look a shapeless, unfit rabble thrown together with no coherent plan! I never thought Tony Pulis would look an appealing prospect, but that is what Redknapp, Jordan and Bondy Bond have driven me too! Still Redknapp it is - so let's hope that Hoddle can make a difference as i can't see who else will! |
| News Comment | Hull well prepped for that difficult second season — interview at 23:43:49
They seem pretty complacent for a team which finished 16th, only 4 points above the relegation zone with a points total many teams have gone down on (37pts). I do think they've bought well, but Bruce teams usually start to go off the boil after a few seasons (Brum, Sunderland, Wigan) so they could well be a candidate for second season syndrome. |
| News Comment | Uncertainty clouds Reading’s bounce back attempt — opposition profile at 14:17:59
Interesting that Reading are also seemingly finding that their strong (on-paper) attack is a bit blunter in the harsh reality of the Championship - just like us. Should be a tough game, i think playing them after a thrashing is poor timing for us and a draw would be a decent result. |
| News Comment | Purposeful Burnley brush QPR aside — report at 09:31:37
We just have no urgency and never attack with purpose, meaning we always have to breakdown 2 organised banks of 4 which we kindly allow the oppo the time to put in place! |
