| Forum Reply | What are we trying to do? at 21:54 6 Oct 2024
As outlined in the recent fan forum and reflected by the overhaul of staff and players -including the appointment of the new Head of Methodology - the club appears to be building some kind of overarching blueprint for a specific style of play. A mantra to establish a clear, consistent philosophy for all current and future academy / 1st team players and coaches to follow. While this sounds promising, and pre-season friendlies first showed (and exposed) this whilst still in its early stages, we're now 10 games in with minimal signs of progress. Do they persevere or pivot? I'm assuming there is room to edit this so called 'QPR: Principles of Play' Power Point handout (unless of course its been laminated and signed in Nourry's blood). I'm all for it. We position two men on each corner of the halfway line, leaving centre circle empty. If they drop a third man back, it means they've got three players deep, making it 7 vs. 9 in our box. Nardi catches the cross, bowls it down the middle and sparks a 4-man footrace. Best man wins. Why not even keep two lads up top, one on each corner of the halfway line, leaving a massive hole in the middle, really f**k with their heads. |
| Forum Reply | Kolli at 14:00 1 Oct 2024
I’d imagine Kolli has been advised to get his head down, prove his worth, then we’ll find some middle ground on a contract extension and see him back in the squad - assuming demands aren’t excessive. A bit of tough love, ensuring we’re not seen as an easy touch on contracts. He likely wouldn’t be starting consecutive Dev Squad games (and performing well, by all accounts) if there was an attitude problem and there wasn’t a mutual understanding that this is in both parties’ best interests. Perhaps that’s a glass half full take, but we’ll see how it plays out. [Post edited 1 Oct 14:02]

Some could say control freak, others might call it attention to detail / finger on the pulse. There's a fine line, but its placement is open to interpretation. As CEO / DOF its important to have an element of this, whilst having awareness to delegate tasks to the pros in their field, which from afar, looks to be happening. |
| Forum Reply | Nardi's shot stopping at 11:40 29 Sep 2024
Agreed. Nardi has arguably been our best summer signing and although still early doors, his stock is rising (as well as his highlight reel after that quadruple save). We seem to have a decent crop of keepers right now. If things continue, i can see us cashing in on Nardi in a yr or so at time when Walsh will be pushing for more game time. A seamless transition. Keep the conveyer belt turning. |
| Forum Reply | What we know so far.... at 20:18 28 Sep 2024
Also what we know so far.. After recent seasons the general hope/expectation was for a cozy mid-table finish. On average that produces x18 defeats a season (16 to go, buckle up). Not every defeat will see us toe-to-toe with the opposition in a neck & neck encounter, sometimes we wont show up. Today two average teams were cancelling each other out until the scales were tipped. Half our spine and key leaders were missing in JCS, Colback & Chair. The season is also only 15% complete, 39 games to go. This is a new group of players so i would expect inconsistency and a settling in period, sprinkled with a bit of shit here and there. Granted some have shown more promise than others, and some just won't work out. I get that summer optimism has somewhat sobered, but it was always going to be bumpy ride with so many recent changes, on and off the field. |

At that age..18? The lad was only promoted to the dev squad last yr and he should be walking into a L1/L2 club starting lineup? If he was, he'd be on our bench today. Just a taste of men's football for an 18yr old kid, probably more for mental toughness than actual football development. Fine by me. If he's still at that level end of next season then it'd be concerning, as for now let him develop and see how he grows. |

Shame as i quite enjoyed the reviews / build-up chats with K Gallen on their youtube channel. There's something about an actual ex-pro giving their insight that holds a bit more gravitas (if articulated well enough). |

As a young lad old racing home to check the scores one April afternoon, it was indeed Ceefax that broke the news to me Eoin Jess had scored the solitary goal of the game at Coventry to all but send us down. Still remember that page loading... |

I'd like to see Santos or Ashby given a run at RB to give some more balance, threat, energy and options going forward. As much as i love Jimmy, a fine stand-in job and great backs-to-the-wall option, it's never quite looked natural. |

This for me is a perfect case for a loan out, the lad is almost 24 and only played 25 senior games (according to wiki), majority of which have either been from the bench or in sporadic starts here and there. Those 'hot/cold' glimpses are exactly what I'd expect from someone with so little first team experience. He has shown some quality, comes from a great pedigree but now needs a consistent run of games to loosen the shackles and get in the groove. Approaching prime age, show us what you got EDB. |
| Forum Reply | Celar at 15:56 18 Sep 2024
We know that the way we set up our CF is going to be isolated as f**k. Unless we're dominating games, we need them to single handedly bulldoze past two center half's a la Armstrong / Frey. Celar is not the guy for that and doesn't look close to winning one of those hopeful balls, therefore he has to bring other qualities. Goals. How will he score goals? By getting minutes to get into the groove and on same wavelength of teammates. Those teammates are all new, even to each other, the whole front 4 was new last night. There are no established patterns of play for reference so of course it will take some time. I'll reserve full judgment until he's had some real chances on goal, consistently misses the target, or shows no improvement after 6 months. It's not like he's missing sitters every game, a few chances against Plymouth where granted he should have scored, but he was in there swiveling looking for it, more than could be said for some recent strikers. |
