Generally speaking I would prefer the leader of the free world to have fewer felony convictions and proven legal cases for sexual assault, but I accept that may not be an issue for everybody. |

Maimone's been making an arse of himself in these parts for 20+ years by now. I'd almost miss him if he stopped doing it.
I don't think there's a lost cause he hasn't attached himself to. This site has witnessed plenty of trolls over the years, but few as hopeless. |

By any serious evaluation, Harris is a hopeless candidate for President. America's problem is that she is still a far better option than Trump.
Pretty bonkers how "The Greatest Democracy in the World" ended up in this position. |

We certainly do lack a Paterson type. Cooper is nowhere near technically capable enough in the #10 role and we don't really have anyone else. Eom has been suggested but more in hope than expectation.
I'm withholding judgement on the rest of our forward line because they're generally only as good as the ball they get, and this season so far that has not been anywhere near good enough. |

And this is the problem in a nutshell.
We're regularly told that we have nobody better than Grimes, but a consistently good performer from the u21's is ready to step up into central midfield and the only way that the coach will use him is as a winger.
We have to do better than this. We cannot have sacred calves in the side. That goes for any member of the starting XI. Grimes, Darling, Vipotnik, all of them. |

Christ, even the Rugby fans I know are bored by the game these days, thinking that it's mostly just roided up meatheads running into each other for 50 minutes until they're all knackered and then being replaced by other roided up meatheads.
Just like American Football, the actual skill levels required in most positions are very low with physical attributes playing a much more significant role. [Post edited 7 Sep 11:44]

The sheer volume of people who continue to eulogize Martin despite his two years in charge of the club being at best, and this is an extremely charitable assessment, average and at worst a disastrous waste of time and resources never fails to amaze.
Even now there are those who would have him back in a heartbeat. Crazy Mofos. |

I don't think we lost 17 out of 21, but winning four out of 21 sounds more like it.
And yes, Russy had a very strong squad and budget to work with in comparison to basically every other team in the division and still only just about achieved the bare minimum. |

Either he wasn't injured at all, or it wasn't serious enough to warrant a mention.
I'd plump for the latter given the choice. As much as I despair that he's apparently a serious option for us this season despite one obvious and one potentially better player being packed off on loan, he doesn't seem the type to kick off in that way.
My main concern is he might actually get a bumper new contract because he's one of the few Williams likes, then we end up stuck with him if Williams doesn't buck his ideas up and gets the chop. |

Honestly I thought 22/23 would be his last, but some of his performances last season were outstanding. If he keeps himself fit enough for 20-25 games a season either starting or off the bench there's no telling how long he can carry on going.
We could do a lot, lot worse as a cover option, especially a cover option who at this point in his career doesn't mind being one. |

It's probably the reason why he's still so effective even though he's pushing 36. The first ten yards are in is head. Certainly one of the smarter players I've seen in my 30+ years following the club. |
