Saints Said To Have Agreed Deal For Striker From Belgium
Monday, 3rd Feb 2025 10:51

The transfer rumour mill is turning and it seems that Southampton could well be making a few moves and one that seems to look likely is for Victor Udoh from Royal Antwerp, a deal that could see Cameron Archer moving out on loan.

givemesport.com are reporting that Saints have agreed a deal with Royal Antwerp for 20 year old winger Victor Udoh.

Like the potential signing of Abakar Sylla, I am not sure what we are trying to achieve here, it seems that Ivan Juric has already decided who is surplus to requirements to his plans going forward, Flynn Downes, Cameron Archer & Sam Amo-Ameyaw all out of favour with Juric.

So I am not sure why we are just trying to move the traffic cones around here, it is claimed that if Saints get Udoh then Cameron Archer will move to Leeds united, I am assuming that all of these are loan deals,

But personally I would prefer Archer & Amo-Ameyaw at the club, proven players in the English game, than either Sylla & now Udoh.

Udoh has not played much for Royal Antwerp and is described on transfermarkt.com as a left winger, rather than a striker as he is being reported in the transfer reports.

So none of the moves so far that have been mooted on this final day of the transfer window, fill me with much hope.

We have plenty of wingers, both young and experienced, plenty of strikers and plenty of central defenders at the club, what we need is an experienced central defender and players who know what is needed in the Premier league, not a couple of kids who can't even get in their current clubs starting XI.

He has played just 12 times for Royal Antwerp in the Jupilo League with just 76 minutes on the pitch over those games, his longest time was 13 minutes, 6 were 5 minutes or less, hardly the stats that you want to read.

Totally agree Nick. Disappointed if Amo-Ameyaw leaves on a permanent basis as I think he could do a good job next year. Similarly can’t see Udoh as anything other than a development project and has less to recommend him than either the aforementioned or Archer. Still I suppose SR will eventually strike gold!

It’s a joke, but then again our club is a joke because the management above Juric are jokers..
Amo has deserved a chance but hasn’t been given one and Archer is our best finisher but doesn’t see grass.
I lost hope a long time ago under this lot, as soon as we lost against Wham and Palace. We need a proper striker still if Archer is surplus and we need a holding midfielder as well as a strong, quick CB. This has been obvious for a while.
Can’t understand this Udoh signing, smacks of desperation and cluelessness.

This is clickbait - can you seriously see this inexperienced youngster replacing Sulemana?

If what is suggested comes about then I totally agree with you Nick, once again utterly ridiculous decision making by Sports Republic’s doughnuts.

When it comes to the Saints, over the years you have been consistently optimistic .However, by the tone of this article it appears to me that Sports Republic are finally even getting to you.
