Time to admit one's failings
at 13:55 23 Feb 2025

I once watched 5 minutes of Big Brother. An hour of my life, I'll never get back.

Consequently, all the "reality" TV is dead to me.

I thought we descended to Portsmouth tactics and quality. Surprise, surprise, they were better at it than we were. V poor quality game. Hard to think of any of our side who played that well.

QPR finances released
at 13:03 23 Feb 2025

A new, bigger ground could increase the revenue from the football side. However the ability to use the ground AND facilities a lot more than 25-30 times per year would also help. Provided the extra income isn't swallowed by player/agent demands.
Sadly, even if we could find a suitable, affordable site, it would take 2 years from conception to usage.
The club is starting to extract retur s from the training ground but still has a way to go.

It remains that selling players for a profit would be a real game changer. See how Brentford did it.

Unusual to see the winning side outscored 3 tries to 1. If Russell had kicked the conversion the post match comments would have been very different.
I'm far from convinced by the England back line. Slade has always flattered and the wingers need to get in the game more than they did.

Really good finish. Pity, his primary job, defending, didn't go nearly as well.

They havent had an attempt on goal, as yet. But, it's a poor quality game.

I think we need to get the ball down and use Saito & Smyth to run at them. Maybe Lloyd as well after 60 mins.

23 mins gone. We've taken some of the heat out. Better if Varane wasnt so casual.

Not sure why we need 3 defenders on the bench. Might have been better to use Andersen, if fit enough, or, God forbid, Madsen.

Looking at the prediction, we are a hugely optimistic group. Portsmouth , having won 7 out of 10 of their last home games are only backed by 14% of predictors. I hope that doesnt come back to bite us.

Burnley finish 3rd. They draw both legs of the SF, before scraping through on penalties. They also draw the final 0-0 AET, before losing on penalties.

They do concede a lot of goals, but they also score plenty. Callum Lang, their top scorer is out for the rest of the season and Potts, who made Morgan Fox look like a candidate for a retirement home, is a big doubt.

Based on last week's Derby thrashing, I'd love to believe we can silence the crowd, before strolling to a comfortable win. However, we must be due a draw, so I 'm going for a 2-2.

Centre Forwards / Wide Attackers - next Season
at 20:16 19 Feb 2025

Amen to that.
Edwards and Ashby are only on loan. Although thete aren't many who'd be sorry to see the latter back at Newcastle.
Dunne, Cook Fox and Paal are all out of contract. That would leave JCS, Morrison and Larkeche. Hard to see anybody getting 30+ games per season out of JCS, so there's a huge need for movement.

Top 10 Championship players 24/25

I'm not sure any of our team, not even Dunne, would warrant a place in the top 10 of the championship.
Probably quite a few between 10 and 30, though.

Sutton went on loan before Christmas to Hanwell Town (?) and reports indicate he did OK. We signed him on a pro deal, despite interest from a number of PL clubs.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a runout for the 1st team before end of season. Depends how much is resting on the results.

Even the U18s have started picking up points. 7 from last 3 games, including a 2-1@ Millwall kas Saturday. Charlie Street penalty + Rocco Friel in 89th minute.

Neither have been great up to now.

Play Offs? Dream on
at 16:13 16 Feb 2025

If we do that, I'd happily revisit this thread.

Playoffs are not impossible but unrealistic, For this season, IMHO.

Frankly, looking at our March fixtures I'd be happy with anything over 5 points from those 5 fixtures.

To finish in the top 6 we'd need at least 70 points, IMO. That means another 26 or 2 points per game. Seeing as we still have to play 5 of the top 6, including the runaway top 3 at LR, I don't see the above target as realistic.

However, the development since Nov, makes me think that next season a top 6 place is achievable. If Marti and Nourry feel the same way, then the planning can start now.9

It depends what they do about the players who are OOC, between now and June 30.

I suspect they'll want to keep JD, Cook, Frey. Also turn Saito's loan into a perm deal. If so, it cuts down the churn to something less disruptive
