TVOS Preview - Rochdale v Hartlepool United
at 12:30 26 Apr 2025

I've expected we are going to get these dull games while Jim builds for the future and patient for him to get better players in.

I'll take 5th all day long, with this style of play. Playing this possession style I get it, and been entertained in lots of games this season. when were doing well. Playing with sharpness its great, however, when not - its down right garbage to watch.

For me and for Mcnultys style to work, we need sharp dudes on the pitch. no sloppyness, all players having a bit skill, playing on bobbly national league pitches. I know these type of players aren't cheap, so maybe he should take a chance on more vastly experienced players, that drop down the leagues as they have maybe injury risks and become cheaper to buy, its a gamble but with a bigger squad we could support this tactic.

Also hindering our progress to being even better, to cope with a change of play, a good tough guy, a target man with ball control. We've seen how Jay bird turned our season round when he played.

Still a work in progress but improving year on year in this division.

Epic win.

Not only as an important step towards playoffs, but a poignant memory for Dale fans, remembering Joey T.

Nothing to fear. The lads will be up for this, biggest game of the season.

One bad defensive mistake.
And if thay didn't happen most would be saying that was a great hard earned result . It was tough game for the lads. Thought they put more effort in than in previous games .Against a big physical akward side.

Shame about the result. Got abit scruffy that 2nd half. no doubt both teams tired, resorting to sloppy passes and punts up field. .Dale unlucky to lose that one, overall the better side,tm sure there will be a few sore players in the morning.

Of course we shouldn't do it but, even playing an injured Bird is better than playing Mitchell as a center forward. At the moment.

Him coming to the Dale has highlighted how desperately poor we are in that position handling high balls and 50/50 passes. A frustrating watch hes not strong enough, and easily bullied off the ball, just puts a token effort in to try. We shouldn't bother with any high balls just pass it straight into his feet. or go up the wings.

Devante's also gone backwards. A strong lad but appears to lacks confidence in control, and ability to use his physique, to create opportunities. Mostly settling for short passes.

I hope Jay gets fit, continues to make a nuisance of himself, dragging defenders about and banging them in.

1st half great performance by Dale. Strong in Defence and positively moving that ball about quickly into oldhams half.
Brilliant goal by Bird but lll
be suprised to see him second half, he's been limping about for the last 10 mins.

Great game, especially the 2nd half.
I don't believe Jim if starts groaning about the fixture list and its a tough time for the lads blah blah. The players fitness levels look great. Running and harassing the opposition, tracking back, supporting each other.
Birds been a revelation, turning his man, time after time running through players as if they weren't there.
Barlow, Allarakia, East and Bird stood out for me. But the whole team in defense were great.

A Top 7 is still looking alreet and achievable. Happy days if we finish with a playoff flurry.

The frustration is, Jim's brought some good players in, but I feel now we are underachieving at this moment and should be a higher and playing with abit of pace and aggression.

Jim still gets more seasons for me, definitely if he's achieved the initial goal of a top 7 place

Rodney seemed to be playing three quarter pace tonight, wonder if he is carrying an injury? Very frustrating to watch a player possubly not able fulfill his potential. I thought we would get more from him this season. Sure he's got goals but I thought he'd be a class above players in this division.

Tons of energy. Quality play today, always looking for his team mates for an assist.

Feels like players find passing, a 'good one-two', is more enjoyable than scoring goals and winning.
Surely they are desperate for a win like us, maybe not. Maybe, its alreet, to come off another 'training' day.

Were safe at the minute looking at the table. Rodney, Mitchell especially should be screaming for the ball. And the midfield to connect and form some of partnership and connection with them.

Were a good team - just missing the drive and danger in the 3rd half of the table. Same old. Good passing performances, bad result.

Are the players passing-stat driven?

[Player gets home]
other-half: 'How did the game go today love, did your team mates put in a good performance?'
Player: 'We didn't win love were still in the top half, but i put in 400 passes and looks great on my CV' . Lets order a chinky'

Bland interview. No points for possession. I just wish he'd honestly address the problem areas with more depth.. Describe what we are not doing to get the ball over the line.
He needs to get the lads fired up, play with pace and utilizing our game winners, Mitchell and Rodney, they should be more involved than they are. Cut out wasted passes in opponents half, get the ball to these lads quicker. Goalscoring chances are minimal. These two decent player aren't involved enough, they should be creating havoc against team like Dagenham. wither it's tactics at fault or enthuiasm of the front line to make more if an effort. It's a frustrating watch.

Dale Drawn Against Leamington In FA Trophy
at 21:41 10 Dec 2024

2-0 . Dale chalking up at win away. Solid defence kept out Leamington. Hopefully we'll get far in this comp, be nice to see some silverware.

Enjoy a spirited trip back those that went!

No doubt the pitch will get blamed.

Home team pressed and kept us out, outfought us.

A poor quality game with rodney quiet and not imposing himself.

We should be playing better than this, with more fight, we were in a great league position.
