At this time of year….
at 15:48 31 Dec 2024

As I close in on my quest to complete ‘the 92’ I have suffered a few Premiership games this season and the atmosphere at some grounds is breathtakingly shocking. Even grounds like Newcastle are poor compared to the 80s/90s.

The worst by a country mile is the London Stadium. You have a cheap built stadium unfit for football, most of the crowd are so far from the pitch you’d see more on the telly, fickle moaning fans that were never that wonderful at Upton Park, shite transport links that means the ground is half empty after 85 mins and a mixture of prawn sarnie brigade and tourists whose only reason for being there is to put a photo on their social media account. Talk about football in a library, all you hear are the away fans. If it had happened to any other club, I would feel sorry for the supporters, (although I’m expecting Man City to be much the same if I ever get there).

The funniest thing by far is that West Hams rivals Tottenham have the most amazing stadium in the country (I’m not a Spurs fan at all) Any one who hasn’t been should go if they get the chance. It really is a ‘no expense spared’ stadium that is far better than any other in the UK. The famous beer glasses that fill from the bottom are just an example of how futuristic it is.

Putting my obvious allegiances aside, I honestly believe that, pound for pound, we have some of the best fans out of the 92. The BlueWhite Army have done a fantastic job and collectively deserve a place in the Col U Hall of Fame.

Can history repeat itself??

ManUre's last game is at home to Villa. We just need Rashford to sign for Villa and to start practicing his back-heels.

Like Sir Jim ‘Karma’ Radcliffe

I would be happy to see the Binners survive another year in the Premiershite if it meant ManUre could be relegated.

Oi, Jimmy, I hear Rooney is a free agent if you are looking to sack Amorim before he breaks any more records.

I've also cracked it with the help of an anagram solver.

It happened 6 years before my first U's game.

Is that DC that had to watch our 3-2 win at Crawley Town, from the stands due to a one-match touchline ban last season?

At least the yellows that we are picking up are mainly for professional fouls and not hot headedness.

The U's is his only chance of a move to a 'big club', I can't see anyone else of our pedigree wanting him.

Can't see his politics allowing a move to Saudi, although it's funny how the smell of a chequebook can distort one's outlook on life.

Will he follow his Ethics and move to Essex?

How about understudy to Lyle Taylor?

Second thoughts, I'm not sure he can fill Samson' boots.

Exiles to be defeated at the JCS by resurgent DC's Blue and White Army

Danny – “The quality in the final third was missing”

I think I can help you there Danny, it’s not missing, it’s been sold to pay for the white elephant. Apparently, it’s called ‘great business for the club’ or at least great business for Peterbore, Stockport, Ross County even Solihull.

What's it going to be this January?

It was certainly more entertaining than the dross at Fleetwood, but the bar is now so low that we take positives from drawing a game we should have won. Never mind how many clean sheets, 4 wins in 19 is still very poor. It’s the perfect example of a Curate’s egg.

Three difficult games to come and then probably the most important transfer window in our history. Everything is in place for our longterm fortunes to improve, but if we sell good players and/or fail to spend the cash from Fevs/Mingi/Chilvers/Bradley then it’ll just be more of the last 18 years.

The players, manager and 4000+ supporters are doing their bit, we just need the main man to join the party, because there’s not likely to be a better chance.

Definitely winnable if we want it enough (and I suspect DC does).

I remember seeing the U's at Whaddon Road in the same competition in (I think) our last promotion year?

The game should never have gone ahead as 25% of the pitch was frozen solid (and 100% of the U's supporters).

I think we won.

M&T makeover

Ownership (i.e. shareholders) is not necessarily the same thing, but Companies House lists a Richard Martin Cowling as the sole current director of Maldon & Tiptree Football Club Limited.

I believe he was also a director of Col U from 2008 to 2016.

So, family owned property company, the Drewitt-Barlow Organisation, what was it that first attracted you to M&T and the 20 acres of land that comes with their stadium?

A bit of googling and they look like real characters, if it wasn’t for people like them risking their cash, to create jobs and trying to make the area a better place (and a few quid along the way), the UK would be in even deeper shite. It will certainly be a change from Cowling Jammers and their long suffering supporters. As long as they pay their tax in the UK, good luck to them.

Is this 'stage one' of the Cowlings moving away from football?

It would fit with selling anyone that gets an offer.

Unbelievable that Harbottle is still on the pitch, the challenge was nasty and ridiculously late. It deserved two red cards, he could have crippled Edwards.

Taylor is a real cool customer in front of goal and so close to a hat-trick.

U's confidence is sky high.

U's to spook The Robins?
at 10:06 4 Dec 2024

One win and we are going to be promoted, one loss and we are doomed, the joys of supporting the U's.

If we can keep Samson (and others) and spend enough in January to plug the gaps in the squad, the little extra investment could pay dividends by the bucket load. Now is the time to finally reverse the eternal slide, there’s not going to be a better time, there are no good teams this year.

The difference between making the play-offs or getting relegated is quite slim and there are still 84 points to play for. We are not far away from being a winning side, but more Sell, Sell, Sell and a few injuries and it could just as easy be curtains.

For me this really feels like a crucial time in Col U’s history. The long-term direction we take from here depends on how the club is run, and concentrating on what is important, far more than the performance of the manager or players.

Harrogate v Gainsborough FA Cup
at 17:25 30 Nov 2024

I agree it’s a horrible ground in one of Englands most overrated towns.

…..but they do have an away bar, I think it was new last year. Avoid it at all costs, it is cold and soulless and only sells Guiness (yuk) or ice cold C@rl#ng. Which reminds me of a famous quote from one of the Directors of the long defunct Tolly Cobbold. Back in the 70´s they brought out a lager called ‘Husky’ and after they went bust, the old school director said something along the lines of ‘we called it husky because it tasted like dogs piss’.

Just take the piss out of away supporters, Harrogate are/were sponsored by Black Sheep Brewery.

Apart from our little flurry approaching half time, by far the most entertaining part of the day so far has been watching all the seagulls circling the ground during all the injury breaks. Good job I’m in the standing end, because I would probably be asleep by now if I was sitting down.

In fairness you would need to be born here to want to live or work in this shithole. I’m sure the whole fleetwood crowd have got in on a single family ticket.

I’m pretty sure that most on the home end were nodding in agreement when the faithfully were singing ‘Fleetwood’s a shithole’

Shockingly poor crowd and if it wasn’t for the Col U youngsters they’d be no atmosphere. Poxy 12:30 kick offs. the EFL are killing the game and they don’t give a shit.
