I wasn't even aware he was playing up front. |

I always think u give it ten games. That's a pretty good idea of where we are. Then he either gets sacked or backed for the season. |

Tough test for Dibling tonight. He's no doubt going to be a marked man by Bournemouth. Will he be able to get into the game and have an impact. He might need bigger shinpads! |

I hope that there aren't any saints fans that want us to lose. Id like us to keep the ball, but, we have to have a presence in the box when we're attacking. Playing strikers wide is mental and we don't make chances. Maybe with Stewart in the middle we would have a focal point and someone for our midfielders to find in dangerous positions. |

Let's be honest, it's the premier league. It will all be stat driven. They will look at the numbers comparing goals conceded leaving players up the pitch and they will decide that the maths say it's better not to. |

It's a good idea using the Ricky song. I've never been a huge fan of rhyming le tizz with piss. We could make it more relevant to Tyler. What about this for the second half of the song... His socks are low His pads are small Your defence can do f*** all Tyler Dibling, Southampton superstar... Meh, it's just a thought. [Post edited 27 Sep 8:42]

Well we need to win. Another loss would be so damaging. Every 'expert' and pundit predicts us to lose every week unless we change our approach and so far, they've been right. So tomorrow RM needs to show one of two things. Either he sticks to his plan, it works, we win, and we start to look like we know what we're doing. Or... He changes style and we find a new resilience and different way to be effective. Lose again with 70% possession and 5 shots and the pressure will be ramped up by some considerable margin. |

Surely he stays for the season at least. And I would say play him. I know we're supposed to baby these young players but he'll be off soon so we should get as much from him as we can. Let whoever buys him and pays him a fortune manage his game time. I'm a bit tired of these players being here, getting injured or whatever, we rehab them slowly, then they leave the first chance they're back on their feet, so we see virtually nothing from them. Play him til he goes. |

I'm genuinely baffled how we have so much possession but do so little with it. Secondly for those that saw the match, Lallana seems to have played well and people say he's being saved for Saturday- yet the report says we improved and had more control once he was replaced by Fernando's. So on Saturday do we play Lallana, or Fernando's, or both? |

It's too early to guess how many points we'll get. We have to wait til we've played at least ten games surely. I agree goals are going to be a problem. Armstrong seems to struggle in the PL, and BBD has been ineffective so far although sticking him out on the touchline doesn't help him. What happened to having a striker that stays within the width of the box? Stewart is still an unknown. Maybe he will be the focal point we have been missing, you never know. What is clear is that we have to score goals as we don't seem able to keep them out. |

Have say RM seems to have been brave at last. Let's hope those players deliver for him! |
| Forum Reply | Let Dibling start against United. at 11:08 13 Sep 2024
Basically if you're good enough you should play. History is littered with players that get into a starting line up at the age of 16, 17 or 18. As for damaging his confidence, he looks like the most confident player we have, I'm more concerned about the rest of them! Certain players need to be dropped. All decent players that were good last year, but PL games simply pass them by and they have no effect. Finally he must change the passing from the back. I've seen lots of recent interviews with pros all saying it's madness for saints. They can't all be wrong. If we do it again it will look like pure stubbornness from Martin. Scholes and Big Sam both said they cannot understand why we take such risks particularly as there has been no pay off at the other end of the pitch. Hopefully RM will adapt it slightly and keep the ball further from our goal so maybe one bad pass won't be fatal. I get the feeling we are a decent side currently being strangled by our rigid pattern of play. With a few tweaks we could well start picking up points and there's no reason it can't start tomorrow. |

Some odd comments that RM got us up last season against the odds. We had every advantage so we should have been promoted. There was no real excuse. I also don't get the "he a new manager and it takes time to learn in the PL'. Well im a tactical idiot but even I said before the season started that we could not play around our box in the PL with the players we have. In fact loads of people said it so RM is so stubborn he needed convincing. I have two problems with him. First he says he wants the players to be brave. Our endless possession is not brave. It's cowardly. We are too scared to take any risks to create anything. We are second in the league for possession but have zero points. Secondly, he seems to have no structure to our attack. No pattern, no plan. Who plays two forwards 50 yards apart with no one in the box for 90 minutes? I like him as a person and I like having the ball in the middle and top thirds. But if he can't see that our current style is stifling us both defensively and offensively then this season will only go one way. Let the defenders defend when necessary and let the more creative players have the freedom to try riskier passes to make chances. Currently we look completely overcoached. He needs to quickly for his own sake and for the team. |

Seems he's finally arrived at Everton. We don't seem to have much up front but I'm still not jealous. In fact I think he's injured and can't play til December, which is very Broja... |

Thing is, by insisting on our rigid style I'm not sure RM is 'giving last years players a chance'. What's he going to do? Drop them and replace them with the new signings, and then change the tactics? If he really wants to give them a chance he should change the syle now and give them the opportunity to implement it. |
