We need to stop the wide men getting crosses in, we are ok when the centrehalves are in position to defend the high balls but very had to stop once a team has got in behind us

Would say that we are a bit all over the place up front and that could be because all the chopping and changing up top and in the advanced midfield role, I mention this because we are asking crosser of the ball to beat the first man but shouldn't we be looking to get a player across the front man be it aerially or to feet once the ball is in the penalty area anything can happen. Don't think we need a line of players static on the edge of the box waiting for things to happen, the movement to get in the front of the nearest defender to offer themselves to give options to the winger is poor. I know the box is crowded but it gives the winger the option to play to feet while driving into the box ensuring the ball is going towards the goal and making defenders turn.

Yes I was aware of what you meant, I was just commenting on the fact that more stewards seem to be mobilised in the East stand as well, don't know if they were heading towards to northern side of the East stand ,whether they expected trouble there as well?

They should be prepared to expect change and adapt accordingly the fact that we cannot and keep getting beaten is the worry. Same players on the pitch for us that looked a match for Sheffield become a vulnerable mess.
Thing change within games and we have to adapt to those changes needing to keep things tight at times,we seem incapable of it of late. Thought we were still in the game up until the penalty and that was even after to two slip ups goal and sending off.

We keep making the same mistakes we knew at the start of the second half they would come at us but we let ourselves get overloaded on the wings again it only takes one or two players to switch off. They upped the press and we thought we had rode it out but when the pressure becomes relentless then your defending has to be relentless and spot on to stop the crosses coming in, we didn't and haven't for lots of games, we are getting players across the front post but pull backs or whipped in crosses even with deflections are killing us, we have to stop those crosses by not allowing the wingers time and space on the ball that we are giving them so near to our penalty area.

Key lost the flight of he ball for the penalty, we have seen him do that at right back, if he concentrate on the ball not the player he would have picked it off no problem instead as he is looking at the player, it bounces before it gets anywhere near the Sheffield player, if Key had watched the flight of the ball he would have got between it and the opposition player who would have had to go through him to get it.
Key is not great under the high ball as said earlier he let's the ball go over his shoulder even at fullback.

If Darling is about to leave sooner rather than later can we appeal the red card and have a stay of execution so he can play on Saturday? If he goes he can take his ban if the appeal is unsuccessful with him as a present to his new club or if he really wants to stay I hope the appeal is successful.

Did seem to be a bit of unusual movement of stewards on the East stand on the south of the stand as if something was amiss but I promptly ignored it as my attention was drawn back to the game hoping to get something out of it.

Presumably they went for Key as a sweeper with pace rather than Naughton a sweeper with experience.
Key has ŕeally got into the bad habit of taking too many touches while standing still, not seen a replay of the Sheffield penalty looked like big man fell over little man and couldn't tell from afar how much contact was involved.
On reflection the ref thought twice about award decisions beneficial to us and once if they were beneficial to Sheffield United.

Bianchini and Pearl-Harris putting themselves about under the high ball meaning the midfield could come onto the ball real shame we couldn't take advantage of the forward momentum we created tonight.Amazing what happens when you play the game on the front foot instead of waiting for things to happen because if you wait too long it happens to us.

What annoys me is that Ronald can get across the winger or attacking fullback and get the ball out of play and yet the likes of Key and Tymon drop back off the wingers supposedly waiting for support to arrive but there are times when our full backs need to make sure they get between the winger and the ball instead òf getting pushed back, how many goals have come from those wide positions, you might want to take into account the number of blocks needed to protect the goals as well.
With 11 men and the way we played we might have gained the lead again but you can bet money on us conceding because their wingers are given a free pass to run at our defence, both Key and Tymon do it, so I think it is what they are told to do.
Funny how when we are needing to press up the wingers do seem to close down better or is it a case of the wingers then try pushing the ball passed the fullbacks and our centre halves cover properly when in position.

Really thought he had more than the two appearance even if it would have been off the bench but it would seem that was the case?

If either of Yates or Kuharevich came back prefer to see Kuharevich returning, we have seen what Yates offers, Hibs have a number experience older forwards which means is he the right player for them?

I was thinking of returning players Cabango with his groin strain and Darling ongoing injury issue.

Wasn't it Sheehan who introduced Parker into the first team squad but I think Luke was in charge when he got injured or have I got both timelines wrong?

Wrong place to try something in a way that is being done slowly and doesn't get you up the park quickly.

But we have had success doing it Ronald, Key and Franco worked well also using their rotation to make sure we kept our defensive set up as we did against QPR but it is about doing it as a method of driving forward not keeping slow possession getting us out of danger not putting us in danger.
We have seen glimpses of it being done but not as often going forward in a purposeful way.

I would add, after the pass forward make sure the passer is in a position to help the recipient of the pass especially if he has someone on his back. Movement when needed on and off the ball is essential, it seems at times that once the pass has been made the job has been done and players sit back and admire their handy work.
