Before the subs, I didn’t think they looked dangerous apart from set pieces. However, they were the subs I would have made too. Although looking back on it, Field did look the most tired of the 3 midfielders. I also think while he gets criticised for forward passing, Varane is huge loss defensively when he’s not there. |

Challenge on Smyth was clear yellow and then the player who just pushed Nardi over for no reason….clear yellow. My son said Chair got thrown to floor at kick off in 2nd half and that’s why he then did that challenge? In close game, these decisions change the game. |

Not sure defence is really an issue. Think you could play 2 from Edwards, Cook, Morrison and Fox. Doubt there would be much difference. However, Edwards has to start for me. The issue yesterday was we looked tired and we were up against a big physical side. I hope/expect we’ll see more energy next weekend. |

Varane is never going to give you much going forward. That’s not what he’s there for. Sounds like you’re agreeing that we looked leggy second half then? I would say a couple Of deserved bookings for Wednesday would have changed it a bit I think |

Morgan and Field played most of the last 2 games. They are both about energy and running. Smyth too was decent today but not quite the energy of other games. Hes also played most of last 2 games. All 3 have also played most minutes over last 2 months. Given their style of play, it’s understandable they are knackered. Week off now is vital. |

On I), we’ve got 12 from 15 with these 2 in midfield. The issue for me was we were “leggy” and particularly players like Field and to some extent Morgan, who are both so vital to our play. We do not have a lot of quality but we do have a hard working team. When we are as a team tired and we’re against a physical solid side, we struggle and result is what you saw today. That said, Ronnie puts his header 1 foot the other side it’s 1-0 and we win. |

12 points from 15 this year. We looked tired and leggy. Without energy we are half the side. |

Great at relieving the pressure when he shields ball and they foul him. That Pedro fella was getting done every time. |

100%. You can’t just run around like a mad dog unless you’re the centre forward. Got to hold position. We got thumped vs Boro because Morgan was running around like crazy and left Varane by himself. Madsen does deserve criticism for other performances but not tonight. |

I don’t know what his stats are but he seems to break up loads of attacks. Gets a leg, head, knee in, slows down the attacks. |

Madsen thought Lloyd was going for it. Lloyd wasn’t screaming for lack of effort just normal football “that’s your ball”. Madsen was ok, not great. But we can’t just say he was rubbish in that game because of other games. |

Ashby was poor. But Madsen did nothing wrong. You can’t judge him in this game based on other performances. Field and Nardi were probably at fault for the goal. |

Les was here for 9 years and Hoos for 8. Nourry has been here for 1. I don’t think Les or Hoos got much criticism in first couple of years or so. |

I don’t necessarily disagree with some of the changes. But would Marti have played that team if it was a league game? Pretty certain Dunne, Nardi, Frey, Smyth and Morgan would have all played. And potentially Fox. That’s 5-6 changes. So, he didn’t take it as seriously as a league game. That’s fine if that’s what he thinks but he should say that. Previous managers have got pelters for similar decisions. |

He’s never developing here to end up playing for Newcastle. I think his contract is up at the end of the season. We’ve basically got a season long trial with him. |

Young compared to Kakay vs Millwall He’s just turned 23 and has played what 20 championship games ? Kakay played 100. Ridiculous comparison [Post edited 11 Jan 19:48]

Well we lost 3-0 to Swansea and then had 3 excellent results. Main issues are 1) Madsen just doesn’t seem up to it and 2) who do we pick as centre halves and right back. Other than Dunne, who are the other 2 for Plymouth? |

The strength from the bench won that. And of course the fight from every one of them. To a man their effort was superb. |
