Ilias is Back

Agreed. Great attitude and work rate, but against teams like Preston, and there are quite a few in this league, just gets flattened constantly.

Chair can handle the physicality and his balance and control keeps defenders at arm’s length. Far superior player. Put two great crosses in and had a shot blocked from a Smyth cross in the 10 minutes he was on. Also worked really well with Paal down that left hand side. We have missed them both in fairness.

Apparently defenders now have far more touches of the ball than players in any other position.

Certainly true of our lot and is prevalent throughout the top two leagues in particular. Football is becoming tedious and the lack of quality is astonishing. Throw in var and the game has gone the way of the country. Downhill with no brakes attached.

Precisely. Anyone who has played the game knows it takes a minimum of 5 games to get match fit and up to speed following a lengthy lay off through injury.

To criticise his efforts having just returned is naive and unjustified.

It’s what he’s done in the past 5/6 seasons that gives him the justification. Most of our current crop are barely fit to lace his boots.

Field the world, lets them know it’s Rangers’ time – Report
at 21:22 12 Dec 2024

Tickled me that report, especially the Madsen free kick masterclass. 🤣

Not forgetting the return of Chair and the few minutes he had on the pitch. It was great to see someone with a deftness of touch on the ball, especially having suffered watching 22 Sunday league pub footballers fannying around in that first half. A proper, quality footballer.

Got the win, but some very sloppy play, especially in the first half. A win and the return of a proper footballer (Chair) and we kick on. Good stuff.

That’s between our. Defenders and Nardi. Take that out of the calculation and it’s in the negative.

Needs to change our hooped tops for yellow ones. More likely to receive a pass from Ashby then.

Pass completion rate….1%

Ashby, Madsen and Varane shocking. Sunday league amateur hour.

Definitely a player there. Along with Varane, Saito, Nardi and Morris, good progress now being made.

Jury out on the rest, but perhaps they just need more time.

What a time for Kolli to make his mark. A run in the side now beckons. Time to shine young man.

Jimmy D on today's game

There’s a reason Santos and Ashby can’t get in ahead of him. His defensive and attacking contributions at set pieces are invaluable to the team. 100% dedication and commitment every game. The occasional cock up can be forgiven, it happens to the very best players.

Paal’s inability to stop a cross is more of a concern than anything JD can or cannot do. As is Smyth’s inability to deliver a cross. Great work ethic, can’t cross for shit.

Everything but the goal - Report
at 19:24 1 Dec 2024

In the Cardiff game, noticed him receiving the ball in a central position from the centre halves and quickly turning with it before making a direct run towards goal. Created havoc and moved us forward quickly. So much easier to do from a central position than from the wing with a full back breathing down your neck. With license to drift across the front three this ability and outlet should be used more.

Pleasantly surprised with the performance at Watford. Confidence and belief from the Cardiff win will hopefully see us kick on. 3 games unbeaten with 2 clean sheets shows progress but we need goal contributions from across the team. Not remotely convinced by Celar despite two well taken goals midweek.

All Celar’s touches were likely awful, Madsen can at least control and pass the ball.

Not much help if you can’t back it up with some pace, physicality and work ethic for a full 90 minutes though.

Morgan was also very sloppy when he came on, but all things considered, can’t expect him to be a world beater. Surely EDB should be given a run at that stage of the game?

Thought Madsen had a decent first half. He has a good touch and an eye for a pass, but bizarrely, I have yet to see him sprint. It’s as if he can’t get out of second gear. Very odd.

Bring him on when we’re 3-0 up. Never get a game again, but the offer stands.

He did, as did Varane. Take whatever positive you can from our impending doom.

We can’t score and concede for fun. Not hard to figure the consequences.
