If you were in charge of football 19:56 - Jan 22 with 872 views | Dr_Winston | What changes would you make? I'm talking dictator, top down control to do what you like. For me it'd be: 1. Swap football to the Summer. It's only played in the Winter now because people needed something to do when there was no Cricket (everyone else copied the English). A Feb - October season would be great. Most of the season played in warm weather. 2. Champions league should only be for Champions. Have a lesser competition for teams finishing in lower places. Reintroduce the Cup Winners Cup. 3. Remove FFP, but have a Global salary cap which affects teams rather than players. For example, Erling Haaland can be paid £500k per week, but Citeh's total wage bill can't exceed £200m. It'll be a nice battle between total squad strength and keeping star players on board. and should reintroduce a bit more competition. 4. (Might catch pelters for this one) End International football. Give it ten years and nobody would care that countries don't play each other any more. Maybe then a club World Cup would be worthwhile. Plus it would render FIFA completely pointless and that could never be a bad thing.

Modest amount to spend, but can’t buy players or sack a manager because of lossses made by the previous regime. There must be dozens of cases like us up and down the land. I wouldn’t abolish international football, but I’d shorten the league season (no international breaks) and play it in set windows between seasons. Qualifiers one summer, tournaments the next.
If you were in charge of football on 20:08 - Jan 22 with 827 views | SullutaCreturned | Oh there's a lot I'd do and I 100% agree with the wage cap. I'd make yellow cards appealable, I think it's silly that a build up of yellows gets you banned when they can every bit as much a bad decision as a red. I'd return the cup competitioins to knock out only and I wouldn't end international football but it would be scaled back, fewer games as it was 40 years back. I have often wondered about changing the points sytem and maybe say a home defeat is -1, a draw is still one but a win is 2 points with away games being 2 points the draw and 3 points the win and then dump goal difference for purely goals scored and if tied then count the difference. I'd also dump promotion play offs, finish in the top 3 and you go up, bottom 3 you go down.

Bring back the playoffs between the third bottom team and the third from the top of the division below. One game. Wembley Yellow cards appealable is a good shout

How about we keep a salary cap, but any new owner of a football club should be allowed to lodge a sum of money as a bond, say £100m, with the FA and spend as much of that as they like (total value of contracts count against the total) until the money is depleted/replenished? That way the club is not on the hook for any losses as the money is already guaranteed, The FA can be confident that nobody will go bust, and the interest earned on the sums lodged can be reinvested back into grassroots football. With the number of yellows issued the workload would / could be immense. Wage caps? Well if you’re the head of WORLD football then fine but if it’s just here, Saudi here they go!

Absolutely. Any attempt to restrict wages would have to be Global. US Sports can get away with salary caps because there is no alternative to playing them in the US. Football doesn't have that luxury.

A massive clampdown on abuse of referees at all levels. Maybe making the job less masochistic will entice more talented people to want to be one.

I like this or something like it. Just as long as the independent adjudicators are just that. Refs need to be far more account@ble.

Its hard for an 18 year old to be better than an experienced 27 year old, so talent waste is too high. Ban TeamGB. Ban all seeding at international level. Stop giving easy groups to the big boys. Remove the 1966 World Cup win from England cos ball was not over the line. Only fair now we live in a VAR world.

If you were in charge of football on 22:04 - Jan 22 with 577 views | Dr_Winston | If we must keep International Football, I quite like the idea of reducing the amount of it. Certainly a situation where one Nation politically can submit four teams is nonsensical and should be ended.

He hoovered up everything, an absolute master at sniffing out chances. In answer to the OP I would bring in a season for every player in the premier league, in a top six side, who by the age of 32 plays for a nominated team in the EFL. Their club still pays them, being with what would be classed as average or normal footballers may give them a reality check but also it would be good for the game. They may even enjoy it. It could be treated like an FA cup draw. Player 1 Cole Palmer, will play for Team 9 Burton Albion.

Overrated. One World Cup and a couple of other trophies. Plenty of players have achieved a hell of a lot more. Good player but nowhere near worthy of being mentioned alongside the likes of Pele, Messi and Ronaldo (both).

Knocking England out of the world cup with a brace secures his place in latino football culture. Pele and Maradona were the top two in most peoples opinion, albeit Messi and Ronaldo have a shout more recently. He did not play in England so some dont understand how good he was. There certainly are not many players as good as the great Maradona. And Maradona was clearly better than any player England has ever produced. Fact.

The offending player will be forced to play in wellies for the rest of the game. 2) In play multi-ball. After five minutes of extra time another ball can be introduced into the playing area, after ten minutes another additional ball etc. etc.

If you were in charge of football on 00:55 - Jan 24 with 142 views | Robbie | Accept Football is now a Business opportunity and a plaything and status symbol for the very wealthy , with the Premiership who rake in Billions for TV rights for their Clubs . Sad to see local leisure facilites for the kids being shut down through lack of funding yet a grant from Sky Sports and their ilk could get youngsters running round after a football . Done me no harm growing up kicking a ball about as a kid thankfully . Spread the wealth as the saying goes , a nonsense statement these days .

If you were in charge of football on 05:49 - Jan 24 with 97 views | PawelAbbott | PSR would have to go. Man Utd have announced that they are close to breaching the PSR rules with a £300m loss. The result is that they are going to have to raise ticket prices again. Apparently the current price of a ticket is £66 with no concession for kids. That means a family of 4 would cost £264 for 1 game!! They couldn't pay me to watch United, buy if that is the cost of watching a game then football isn't going to last much longer. These PSR rules are doing more damage than good

PSR doesn’t need to go as such. It just needs to be made fair. Maybe there’s a reason it’s not called financial fair play anymore. The idea is right, it’s just really badly implemented. Same could be said for VAR. Both great in theory. Both being done cack handedly and causing more harm than good.
