Downes not good enough Smallbone just a bang average League 1 player. The subs were all wrong today we just seemed to fall apart.

Poll: Martin out

Lallana should of come on instead of Smallbone.
A better player and experience would of counted.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Amo-Ameyaw should have been there instead of Smallbone. But, knowing how little our subs would contribute, they should have been left until the last possible minute. In fact, did we really even need to make that many subs? There were too many and they came on too soon and gave United the time to score 3 goals. Just Amo-Ameyaw, if he'd been there, and Lallana would have been enough. Manning at left back, allowing Walker-Peters to move to the right, would have been a bonus and far better than any of the subs he did make.

60mins cruising. Dibling goes off and we bring on Smallbone in a false 9 position and he puts Fernandez out wide. Absolutely bazar! We lost all control after that. All he had to do was to keep things as they were and bring on Archer for Dibling. Not rocket science! Best performance of the season for an hour.

It feels like Juric is still getting to know the players & doesn't yet understand who can play football & who has limited ability (the latter being more numerous in number of course).

Best he (Juric) learns about his squad and quick.

Yes, I thought that when I saw Smallbone was on the bench. When he came on, I thought, oh no, that's the game handed on a plate to United. Anybody who's watched him knew he would be too slow and contribute nothing at this level, other than giving the ball away to United.

Juric obviously didn't know that. Some might say, he should have done, even from his sub appearance against Swansea. Stoke fans didn't even think he was good enough for a team that finished 16th in the Championship:

To be fair, Juric will have had a month in charge come the Forrest game so he should have a pretty good idea of who is decent and who is pants... although you could have fooled me tonight! I'm sure most of us fans know who we'd have in the starting line-up - and to be fair to the gaffer - he chose wisely regarding the starting eleven at Old Trafford.

Alas, and no wonder he wants additions in this window - even he made the changes in hope rather than expectation. I reckon he was hoping that maybe, by some miracle, one - maybe just one - of the substitutions would actually, for once in their fooking lifetime, make a difference.

Alas, as usual, it wasn't to be... yet again. We just went downhill from the moment Tyler Dibling limped off the pitch with an ankle injury.

It's so disheartening when you watch the likes of Smallbone, Tall Paul, Adam Armstrong, etc stood on the byline waiting to come on. By then, you just know the game is up and all is lost...

Also needs to know who he can depend on. Sadly, Downes and Smallbone were severely lacking yesterday. Not for the first time in Smallbone’s place, the PL is way, way too far above his level.

I thought the new Boss claimed he had been watching Saints for many months before his appointment? Well he has brought new life to the likes of Sulemana and Aribo, but has failed to accept that Armstrong and Smallbone have no chance at Premier League level. Didn't Martin 'love' those two and along with Stephens always had them down first on his team list? Why make all those changes when your team is doing so well?
From having positive vibes for the new manager you then think he has no clue either as the game was thrown away.
Sorry to repeat my self for the 100th time, nothing is going to change unless we can find a 'Danny Ings' type goal scorer. And it is not going to happen - they were in short supply anyway and the last place they will want to be now is St Marys. The only bonus for this season is that the clown Martin has made his money and GONE. So its not all bad news! Hopefully he will soon be taking Arma, Smallbone and Stephens with him.

Smallbone has (thankfully) only featured in 3 league games this season, 2 of those as sub, 1 of which was last night. I think the rest of the time he has been injured. Juric was therefore giving him a chance to impress, bringing him on to sure up the midfield and hold out for the win.

Shame he didn't use his Swansea FA Cup appearance as a template of what to expect. Slow, poor passing, offered little, gifted Swans a great chance.

Goals change games. Last night we failed to take our excellently created chances in the first half (Sula x 2, Dibs x 2, Fernandes x2), failed to go further ahead in the 2nd half (Sula), then conceded and we all knew what was going to happen after that. THB put the icing on the cake for the Man U diver.

The positives were that we played very well for an hour at Old Trafford (but ok, who doesn't these days) and created some great chances, oh and scored our first goal from a corner this season !!
