No i'm sorry BrianMc, I love you dearly but i won't have that. One of the true great rock and roll singers with Jeff Beck Band and The Faces. Yes, he's become milk-the-system crooner in since the 80s, but his prior legacy remains intact for me.
Extremely nice bloke by all accounts too.
True great rock and roll singer. Absolutely!
Try the early 70s trilogy of Albums: Every Picture Tells a Story; Never a Dull Moment; and Smiler, if proof is needed.
To my mind the middle one is the best.

It is often said that the words 'World Class' and 'Legend' are over used in football when describing a very talented footballer.
Rod Stewart is a world class legend in music. I am not a great fan but liked his time with The Faces and his early solo albums especially Atlantic Crossing.
He jumped on the bandwagon and recorded his versions of The Great American Song Book with great success. Can't get my head around that one, if you really want to listen to these songs then you don't look past Ella and Frank.

Not a fan of his music but you got to hand it to him the amount of birds he has pulled
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

First got to see Rod in The Shotgun Express at the Greayhound Catford 1966. Later on in the Jeff Beck band at places like the Bromley Court Hotel and The Black Prince Bexley. What a great blues voice he had. They used to show up at gigs(late as usual) in short fur coats taking the piss out of the one Eric Clapton always wore with Cream.Sometimes he would invite members of the audience front rows to come up on stage to sing "Hi Ho Silver lining. Great early career but for me iit got too poppy and interest tailed off somewhat This was good though....
