Kieran Morgan - Looks So Comfortable. 20:35 - Jan 1 with 12088 viewsBostonR

He looks very comfortable in the Championship-what a find. Released by Spurs and has taken his chance. He’s obviously a very comfortable player with the ball but his work rate is outstanding. There is probably a conveyor belt of players like him at PL clubs who are too comfortable.
This lad has applied himself brilliantly and Marti must see something in him to throw him in. He’s just going to get better in my view.

Very, very early days but I've been so impressed with this kid in the PNE, Norwich and Watford games. Man alive does he cover some ground.

What I like about him is he is a positive player, he moves the ball forward and that appears to be his first choice. Perhaps that is because he is young and carefree. His passes has got much better and finding our players which is much harder when playing forward balls.

I want him 'in and around' the first team so that he can learn more from the experienced players, all very well in training but its during matches that he will learn more from.

An excellent run and cross for our first goal yesterday, positive thoughts.

Excellent tonight on the Sky Overlords show and he’s getting attention

I thought he was a definite MoM contender and Sky gave it to him.
However, the checked other players stats and he was some way down the list with Chair and Paal quite ahead of him. With Morgan it’s his industry combined with the fact that loads of his touches and passes are “progressive”

Fair play to the lad

I’d wager the person who identified him as a signing is NOT the same person to have identified Madsen as a target.
How must he feel? Has he got the cohones to force his way back in and cement a place? Doubt it.

I do think it’s time to be careful with Kieran now. Maybe Jack Cardback will do some minutes instead for a few weeks until he’s suspended again thereby keeping Morgan grounded and his engine rested for the full back nine of the season.

Great to see Levy drop a ballcock and a young lad ripping it up for us

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

You can tell a class act when they can play one touch football and make it look easy, opens up the whole game.

It's really fortunate for him and us that Spurs have released him at 18 and didn't hold onto him till he was 21/22.
Instead of playing development squad matches and training on carpet pitches he has got an opportunity with us and he has grabbed it.

FFS you think he's the new Gerry, Numpty calling him a legend on another thread.

Needs to up his mullet game for a start.

I not called him a legend sir.

Great little player though.

Doing so well but needs to be managed.

I think he needs a rest as an 18 year old adapting to this level but most definitely an unexpected success so far.

And only has had an opportunity because Madsen and Anderson haven't performed to any kind of level this season.

Walking in a "Mackie Wonderland"
Poll: Where will we finish next season ???

I guess given the current M.O from our CEO we don't know how long his contract lasts? Hopefully the club are working on a new one for him.

Would we have even seen him or given him the opportunity to develop if we had signed Hayden?

For me he's the brightest spark out of the whole season. For all of the complaints about our summer recruitment, we have got some gems in, but it seems to be the ones we've not paid money for are the ones that show the most promise.

There’s a common theme of improvement emerging for most of the players, which I would assume is related to the consistency and continuity of good coaching/management.

Morgan appears to have many of the technical ingredients required for a successful career and progress should continue if he stays fit, adds a bit of muscle and improves stamina. Manage him well and the ageing process should take care of the rest.

It also sets the tone for other young players to come through and that rubs off in terms of culture. A great position to be in for once - it’s been a while coming but the knock on effect could be a force multiplier if it continues.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Playing very well at the moments, thinks positive, thinks forward, thinks scoring goals.

Improving, stopped giving the ball away as much, works super hard, got tired and was rightly replaced.

He has a chance.

The cross to Frey was one of my highlights. I couldn’t see if he looked up before hand but it was the only ball that was going to work given the position that Frey had taken.

Frey gets quite frustrated with his service at times when he takes up good positions but that was right in the unicorn chocolatier’s wheelhouse.

We’re definitely a selling club, and that’s how we were successful in the 70s, 80s & 90s to a degree.

If Kieran Morgan continues to impress for the rest of the season, how much could we be hoping to receive for him if there’s interest from bigger clubs?

In an ideal world, we’d keep him for at least another 2-3 years.

I honestly think this kid can go to the top if he continues his progression.

I actually groaned when he put that cross in - high, floaty, no real pace there - I'd expect a keeper to come and claim that pretty easily. Still, Kaminski didn't and Frey dominated the full-back and provided a superb finish. Any cross that results in a goal is a good cross.

It's also great for our recruitment. When we talk to young prospects we can say look at Eze, Chair, Morgan - if you're good enough we'll give you a platform

Think of what we got for Eze, 5 years ago.

has a massive engine on him. Don't often say this but he looks a huge prospect. Tthe mark of a good player is how much time they seem to have on the ball, and he mostly does, even in frenetic games. HIs improvement over the last few games has been monumental.

He plays with so much energy and purpose. A lot of PL academy types come down to the Championship and have technical ability but no desire to run or impose themselves on games. Morgan is the complete opposite, he wants the ball and wants to take it forwards, he's prepared to run, and he doesn't mind mixing it physically in a tough league like ours. Seems like a good character.

I think his success (and Lloyd's and Kolli's) speaks to a strong culture at the club, too. A couple of little things stood out to me last night - the way Fox was speaking to and about Morgan in the MOTM presentation at the end, Chair picking Lloyd up after that second miss. Feels like a squad that's very together.

The successful 'selling' club narrative in those eras is only half the story - or actually less than half. We also (i) brought through brilliant players and (ii) made some excellent investments/ acquisitions from youth players like Francis, Gillard, Clement, Busby, Waddock, Allen and Goddard in the 70s and 80s, while making significant outlays on quality players for considerable money of the likes of Bowles, Thomas, Currie and Spencer over the decades. Successful clubs develop players, recruit well, and speculate bravely and intelligently, all of which helps to alleviate FFP in more straitened times.

There’s a really interesting video of his MotM performance highlights on WhatsApp.

I wasn’t overly impressed the first time i watched it (meh…) and wondered what it was about so I watched it again and then it hit me.

Either he’s head up before the ball arrives in tight areas and knows what he’s going to do already - or - he’s running with the ball looking left, right and forward as he runs. It’s quite impressive to watch it because he appears to be completely fluid and therefore one assumes, mostly natural but with a lot of confidence for a player of his age.

If you have that in your locker early doors, then that’s a great set of attributes, especially as you get stronger (remember how Gazza used to shrug people off the ball) and gain more experience.

Loads more potential development and improvement to go but the focus on him in the video is an enlightening show of talent and skill.

Kudos to him and the coaching staff for getting him into the team.

Love this lad
Great on the ball , great vision and not afraid to put a foot in
He was the only one in that Coventry game who had the balls for a fight , scored a goal and never looked back since
Good for him

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

That’s why he is usually knackered by the 70th minute.

Will eventually build the stamina and strength to last 90, but we need to recognise when he is “burnt out” during games and replace him with fresh legs, otherwise our midfield shield suffers.
