Cullen signs on 12:01 - Oct 30 by onehunglow | He is and he does However,he is a professional footballer . His performance last game was truly poor We are not a charity We should leave sentiment at home |
I must admit to showing bias to our local players. Always have and always will. Cullen has always given 100% for this club. Yes he may have had a disappointing performance last week playing out of position.

Cullen signs on 11:58 - Oct 30 by OptimisticJack | Some of the comments on here are so disrespectful. Cullen is a local lad and always gives 100%. He gave a very good account of himself repsenting Wales 2 weeks ago and seems to be part of Bellamy's plans. His career is now at a crossroads. This new contract is a win win. |
He is a local lad I agree with that, I do not believe he always gives 100% . He disappears when aerial crosses come in. Perhaps he has not been coached properly or he does not want to get hurt? Maybe he cannot get the timing right or read trajectory? It is a skill he does not have. He was given a penalty last season and missed the goal completely. He was at a cross road 3 years ago and has flat lined ever since. In the last year he has been given ample opportunity to flourish while Kuharevych and Whittaker have been allowed to gather splinters and lose morale. It will not take Bellamy long to understand Cardiff's best local boy is at a different level to Cullen. (Rubin).

Cullen is getting some slack because he was playing "out of position" as a no 10. He is too weak and cannot head the ball as a number 9. He played no 10 for Wales. So what is he? It is clear to me he cannot play no 9 so he is a number 10. Rubin Colwill is a number 10 and he cannot head the ball either but can do everything else much much better than Cullen. Cullen is a dull 'identokit' player that Swansea had under Duff. He probably help the team keep its shape and has positional discipline, Colwill has flair but needs Cullen's discipline perhaps? Someone somewhere mentioned Cullen's four goals v Everton in an u21. His star was bright then but has like all local Swnsea strikers he has faded This was misleading as the player making him that day was Jarrod Branthwaite as a 17 year old rookie recently signed from Carlisle.

Cullen is another obsession, this poster has a few if Cullen doesn't play who does? The younger lads aren't getting a looking for some reason, could be a valuation thing which wouldn't surprise me with this lot running us, if they get games/appearances in the first team and stink the place out, its probable that if clubs are looking at them won't take their interest further, plus its experience we need in the championship and Cullen has that, he's not the answer, but Williams has little option.

Whatever people think of Cullen, he’s our best striker at the moment. Sure Vipotnik has more potential, possibly Wilson does too. I’d far rather we be a well run club who could keep hold of our centre backs and attract 15/20 goal a season strikers, but while Levein is here, that really doesn’t seem likely. It’s a far better scenario than him walking for free in the summer, even if he would only be a squad player at most championship clubs. Slagging him off because he missed a penalty in a game he scored in and we won anyway, says far more about the poster than the player.

In my opinion it says a lot more about the poster who says "it says a lot more about the poster than Cullen" than it does me, with respect. Especially if the poster is just copying someone else. Swansea have not scored for 7.5 hours because they reward players like Cullen and force out players like Whittaker who is not a lovely boy and not a "true jack". This club wants an easy life over scoring and winning it seems. This is what Gude should be all over this "Grimes world" culture. These guys should be headbutting the walls. Williams had no answers to Cullen and others goal drought. "Give him a £1m 4- year contract and see if he can be a bit braver in the 6 yards box" . [Post edited 30 Oct 21:05]

What's the answer then ??? There's no one else, he doesn't pick Wilson or others, there's obviously a reason could be the reason I mentioned or maybe Williams just doesn't think they're ready for the championship, you can agree with who you want but him slagging Cullen off constantly like he does isn't gonna solve the issue, he's all we got he's never gonna be the answer and that's be highlighted by the fact we got no one else. The OWNERS are to blame for not getting Williams a recognised striker, he won't accept that though, he'd rather slag Cullen off, Its pathetic. If he wants to slag anyone off try the Owners! You’re entitled to your opinion. We haven’t scored for 7.5 hours because our striking options are Cullen and Vipotnik and we’ve got no creativity behind them. Just wait until both our centre backs leave for nothing and we start conceding goals as well. Maybe if and when Levein becomes more and to a change of ownership structure, we will be able to afford better players.

Yes, the owners are the cause of the mess. My agreement with Res was in his belief that Cullen doesn’t have the ability at this level. I certainly don’t agree with his defence of the owners. It puzzles me. We are in a mess and I fear that this season may see us drop down the league unless there are three worse teams than us. At the moment, having gone 5 games without scoring, the table is fibbing a bit!

We'll be lucky to be in the Championship next season, unless they pull a rabbit out of the hat in January and buy a couple of forward players including a striker I can't see it, they've been trawling the free transfer market for months or so they say, Darling is gone lets face it, Cabango as well I reckon, two CB's coming in from Fantasy Island to replace them I've heard. We all know Cullen isn't the answer, but he's all we got, jury is still out on Vipo they still can't raise a majority yet, but his new job as a cockle picker at Penclawdd is looking imminent apparently.

I take the view Vip is not being deployed in the best way nor given the service a striker needs. He’s limited for sure but he’s literally chasing lost causes . Somebody obsession is another’s hero. I’m that way with super captain Grimesy ,the most overrated player in our history now . A player devoid of tackling, heading and motivating ability and a truly one dimensional player. Other players have to cover up for his deficiencies . Everything we do is through him, whatever the circumstances l that is coaching . Yet, our coach is loved as much as a puppy in a basket . It is truly madness we are witnessing and we are fed the same claptrap from the club and its operatives . Not long ago, us negative bustards were refered to as naysayers and doom and gloomers . We were and are pointing out reality . and this is the reality … we could sink without trace . Cullen signs nother contract though

Michu kicking the hoardings with the force he did and knowing he had ankle issues, with madness he ruined what was left of his career. One of the finest players I've seen playing for us and I've seen a few over my 50odd yrs of watching the Swans. I hope to see a few more before I drop off the perch, but I can't see it with this lot running us, they've ruined the Club, they've got previous with DC Utd as well.

I’m sure Vipotnik has a higher ceiling. He’s shown very little so far though. If Oxford was a cup final, I’d start Cullen. Not a great situation, but those two and potentially Wilson are our options. Not every post has to Segway into Grimes mind.

The owners have given money to the football people. Martin had Cullen Obafemi and Whitaker. He accepted Cullen but not Obafemi or Whttaker. Obafemi was sold for disciplinary reasons. Martin wanted a striker. Whittaker was scoring goals at Plymouth. The owners recalled Whittaker and said play him or sell him. Martin refused to play the regular goal scorer. The owners gave Duff and Williams Kuharevych. Williams refused to develop Kuharevych like Cooper refused to develop Gyorkeres who the US owners also gave to the manager with a cheap buying option allegedly. Yates Kuharevych Wilson are all better than Cullen. Williams likes Cullen. The owners back Williams for now. Four more years of lightweight static Cullen rattling in the pockets of Championship defenders.?True jack 100%' er every time? Better attack that Ronald cross then with an emphatic header. When I see it I will declare the man is making progress. Swansea have gone 7 and a half hours when Whittaker scores yet another goal for Plymouth. [Post edited 31 Oct 15:24]

Martin left before Whittaker did. He also did play the goalscorer (Piroe) but that’s beside the point. While I have no doubt whatsoever there were issues between manager and player, the reality is both wanted him to stay at Plymouth and he was brought back (amid Rangers interest) against both of their wishes. Duff has gone on record saying Whittaker asked to leave on his first day as manager. I can only assume he either really wanted to be at Plymouth or was unhappy about the way our owners handled him. In fairness to them, he does have a reputation for being difficult. But I agree he’s a better player than Cullen.
