QPR preseason training/games in Girona 07:55 - Jun 28 with 20228 viewsPlanetHonneywood

Do we have any info on when the friendlies are going to be played?

I know the offish says they're behind closed doors, but any ITK stuff/thoughts as to whether 'leeway' will be shown?

Short drive there/back, so if we can't jib-in, any suggestions for what to do in Girona instead?

I think the 60% fit thing was always going to be tossed.

Ben Williams came in last summer to a team that was chronically de-motivated, unfit and injury riddled, and he did that midway through the summer. He had only 8 weeks to build it up from what wasn't even a low base, it was an unprofessional rabble. This year he's had the whole of the summer, he's starting from a high base, he's got a proper manager in charge.

It'll be different this time.

He says.

QPR 0 (0) West Brom 4 (4).

Upvoted for two reasons:

1) Because the 'Late start to avoid injury' thing was clearly a nonsense, and
2) Because your last line made me laugh.

Frey looks like a new signing, keep thinking of Dune and the Beast Rabban, so Beast Frey for me

A lot of camaraderie is evident, they went through hell together last season

Frey looks like he has lost several kilos and looks much better and fitter.

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

On the other hand, I was completely fooled by the first pre-season JFH had when we stuffed Leeds first game and looked completely cooked before August was out! Still, looks like we have grown-ups running the fitness side so happy days

This is exciting it looks like Marti is hands on with all the shooting drills and helping Armstrong work on his recieving and turning which is badly needed .
Now he needs to fine him or force him to run laps everytime he strays offside that might be what he needs

There's always one team on the end of a tonking first game of the season.

Could be us.

I did type this tongue in cheek following Ainsworth's comments at the start of last season

But in truth we have had a few of them!

I don't think beating a 5th tier Spanish side 11-0 tells us much. Good run out for the DS lads, but that's it.
Big step up next week vs Spurs

All about teambuilding and set'up I suppose, same as when we were sticking 17 past Cornish Sunday league sides. Get the lads used to the shape and then proper tests will come after.

As others have suggested, I believe there must be a logic to the preseason games scheduling. Everything else seems to have been well organised.

I've not spotted Ben Williams in the pics and vids so wonder how he's been involved given the importance he gave to getting the preseason loading on players right. Field was subbed yesterday with a supposed muscle issue which is precisely the problem Williams wanted to ensure didn't happen.

Didn't Field get subbed cos he got hit in the balls?

Indeed, they were.

However, in the brave new world of Nourryspeak and Martiball, I wonder if they like to get the really hard yards in early in PST, and now its about maintenance and conditioning, tactics/practice drills, and rest?

The place positively reeks of professionalism, that it makes everything from the day Fernandes walked in, and Ainsworth walked out seem even more embarrassing.

Good luck is rooted in good work, and it certainly seems more of the latter is going on down there these days.

Marti said he had a muscular feeling, I'm not sure if that's modern speak for a hard on or if hes injured

If it was a hard on, then you can't take the risk...so best pull him off!

Just watched the highlights v FC L'Escala https://www.qpr.co.uk/videos/0_9xvhpta6

11-0, so no more than a run out really, but some notable misses from Sincs in there, including a wide-open goal. But good to see Rayan getting minutes. I'm really looking forward to seeing Kolli flower this season.
