Sounds sensible, a lot of the top teams have specialist coaches with Liverpool even having a throw-in coach last season I believe. Plus, it's nice to have a scapegoat when the set-pieces are poor

Hope he specializes in defending corners we got beaten a lot from those last few years .

As far as I can recall this is a first for us. Looking back Venables was a great one for attacking free kicks and would come up with some very clever ones. Probably the closest we have ever had to a specialist in that area.

Any help must be valued, maybe suss out not too obvious players for taking them, bit galling when you have the opposition ten yards away in a fairly stationary way and buggar all comes from them.

I remember the Venables free kicks very clever Gerry Francis was always at the heart of them

I know talk is cheap but i really feel we are on the up . Everything seems more planned and professional with people confident in themselves and how they can improve us .

Really looking forward to the season

Good idea.

Also the first mention in years of turning Loftus Road into a fortress. This is a great idea. I can bring the cushions from the settee if someone else can bring bedsheets to throw over the top.

Interesting that he has never played football at any level really.

At least it doesn't say he has on the offy.

Its the way the game is heading I think.

It's a definite step in the right direction, especially after our Bummed In The Gob coach, Gavin Uttershite, was poached by Luton.

Every time we get a corner I say to myself 'what's the bloody point our corners are shyte as a rule'

If we could just beat the first defender now and again that would be progress.

Anyway good that we've now got a set piece coach.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

and if he could teach someone to bang them in from 20 yards a la Ward Prowse, that would be handy as well!

It certainly can't hurt. Delivery from corners and free-kicks over the past two years has been... not great.

I can't remember the last time we scored a direct free-kick. Perhaps Eze? The only ones that immediately spring to mind are Chery and maybe Ngbakoto.

Eze definitely scored one into the Loft.

Didn't Chair score direct from a corner last season? Was it Peterborough away?

Talk of making Loftus Road a fortress but then Hoos allows 3 k away fans 🤔

He's got his work cut out. On the other hand, as we've scored from free kicks only about twice since Buzsaky left, it's a low bar.

Do you want us to do a Reading and turn down the revenue?

Best set piece specialist we have I reckon is George Thomas. Took some fantastic corners towards the end of last season and shapes his body like Ward-Prowse to get that extra whip on the ball. Cannot understand why players don’t ‘look and learn’ from their peers.

Yeah I do, we need to build our supporter base and doing offers in the lower school end should be a part of that.

In order to pay for it we could not have renewed Owen's contest who will never make it at Rangers

The opinion of an expert economist and football coach?

Yes it would be nice to build the supporter base but until we can fill the rest of the ground then we don't really need the extra home capacity. We need all the revenue we can get otherwise we will fall foul of P&S rules.

Whenever I have seen Charlie with the U23s he has looked really good. It would seem that I am not the only one as we have given him another year. He hasn't had a lot of luck, so far, but he was praised by MW when he first arrived and he won't be expensive to give a last chance to. We might even loan him out and save on those salary costs.

We could have a really dreary 'singing section' too, for the full bleak, unholy effect.

A hearty welcome to Harry Watling. A long overdue appointment as proven by our set piece performance against the Palace last saturday.

Everytime we got a free kick a feeling of excited anticipation brought me to my feet.

I needn't have bothered as the only threat they posed was to the first defender. I'd have got more excitment going to the loo.
