Just been sanctioned by the UK government. Now I assume that any follower of the filth buying tickets or anything associated with that lot will be breaking the law?
The sale of Chelsea has been put on hold. They're not allowed to sell tickets so only season ticket holders will be able to attend. I assume this means they can't sell away tickets too.

Massive news: Roman Abramovich sanctioned. All UK assets frozen. Chelsea can still operate under a special licence but sale now on hold. Club will not be allowed to sell any more tickets - only season ticket holders can go to games for the foreseeable future.
They can no longer buy tickets, only season ticket holders allowed to go.
RomanArkadyevichABRAMOVICH(hereafter ABRAMOVICH) is a prominent Russian businessman and pro-Kremlin oligarch. Asassociated with a person who is or has been involved in destabilising Ukraine and undermining and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, namely Vladimir Putin, with whom ABRAMOVICH has had a close relationship for decades. This association has included obtaining a financial benefit or other material benefit from Putin and the Government of Russia. This includes tax breaks received by companies linked to ABRAMOVICH, buying and selling shares from and to the state at favourable rates, and the contracts received in the run up to the FIFA2018 World Cup. Therefore, ABRAMOVICH has received preferential treatment and concessions from Putin and the Government of Russia. ABRAMOVICH is also associated with a person who is or has been involved in obtaining a benefit formor supporting the Government of Russia, namely:former First Deputy Prime Minister, and current Chairman of the Management Board for VEB, Igor Shuvalov; former General Director ofGazprom Investment Holdings, Alisher Usmanov, both of whom were sanctioned on 3 March 2022 for being involved persons in obtaining a benefit from or supporting the Russian government through carrying on business in a sector of strategic significanceto the Russian government.
ABRAMOVICH is associated with these individuals through close business relationships and mutual assistance, including ABRAMOVICH financing Shuvalov's trust and the subsequent loans from Shuvalov to enable Usmanov's purchase of a British mill.
Furthermore, ABRAMOVICHis or has been involved in destabilisingUkraineand undermining and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence ofUkraine, via Evraz PLC,a steel manufacturing and mining company in which ABRAMOVICH has a significant shareholding and over which ABRAMOVICH exercises effective control. Evraz PLC is or has been involved in providing financial services, or making available funds, economic resources, goods or technology that could contribute to destabilising Ukraine or undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine — which includes potentially supplying steel to the Russian military which may have been used in the production of tanks. ABRAMOVICH exercises effective control of Evraz PLC given his significant shareholding and the shareholdings of his close associates who it is reasonable to expect ABRAMOVICH could direct through his close ties with Abramov and Shvidler,as well as his power to nominate directors of the board. ABRAMOVICH is or has been involved in obtaining a benefit from or supporting the Government of Russia,as ABRAMOVICH and Evraz PLC carry on business in sectors of strategic significance to the Government of Russia — namely the construction, defence and extractive sectors.

Given the significant impact that today’s sanctions would have on Chelsea football club and the potential knock on effects of this, the Government has this morning published a licence which authorises a number of football-related activities to continue at Chelsea. This includes permissions for the club to continue playing matches and other football related activity which will in turn protect the Premier League, the wider football pyramid, loyal fans and other clubs. This licence will only allow certain explicitly named actions to ensure the designated individual is not able to circumvent UK sanctions. The licence will be kept under constant review and we will work closely with the football authorities.

They cannot sign anybody and any current contract talks with existing players now cannot go ahead. Cannot sell any more merchandise and the club shop must now close indefinitely. Food kiosks are allowed to open. Looks like he has just lost £3billion.

Dumb question alert: What does seizing assets actually mean? Do the government actually own Chelsea now or will Abramovich get the club back at a future date?

That's certainly brightened up my day. Can the next act be to null and void all the trophies won by them with his dirty money since he's been in charge?
If it is only Abramovich's money that is keeping Chelsea running, it will be interesting to see how that works out. After all, if our board are putting in £1m a month, what is Abramovich putting in? And presuming that he no longer can, how can they keep the doors open?
