Well done to Muldoon. He clearly wasn't up to league standard when we had him eight years ago, but to his credit he went into non-league football and has worked his way back to the EFL.

Bradford City (h) match thread on 18:33 - Jan 22 with 4845 views | D_Alien | Possibly one of the more enjoyable 0-0 games and it's always a bit tasty against Bradford. Maybe their fans should ask themselves why we're more than competitive against them with their massive following? Agree with most previous comments about the new lads. Competence and intelligence on the ball isn't a given in L2 but Downing and Clark in particular look to be very welcome additions. Had higher hopes for Andrews but his legs don't seem to be fully co-ordinated and getting himself in a self-induced injury tangle with the keeper showed his frailty despite his size Broadbent must be doing really well in training, but looks short of the necessary urgency required in matchplay and gave the ball away time and again when a simple pass was on We pressured them, especially after the break but without really looking like scoring and i had a feeling they might snatch a late winner but we now look much more solid. Something to build on from today, both in midfield and up front. Charman's signing offers the prospect of precious goals that will see us in the top half of the table, and if he takes Grant's place up top (who did ok but without being threatening) the latter could then revert to midfield instead of Broadbent [Post edited 22 Jan 2022 18:34]

Bradford City (h) match thread on 18:41 - Jan 22 with 4790 views | boromat | The difference that Downing makes is immense. So much more confident in that back line now and his presence at set pieces is great. Add a right wing back and we're looking solid at the back. The post match with RS was interesting "We can't wait around forever" seemed to be directed at O'Keefe. Up top and in the middle is the problem area. We obviously have one striker in but think we need another option especially if Cashman isn't going to get a chance. Midfield we need someone in as well unless Brierley is going to be given an opportunity but I think that's unlikely.

Agree about Downing he is a real calming influence. I thought Clark was excellent, too: looks to be an upgrade on White and had a decent cross on him. Cashman is a funny one. It doesn’t look like he is going to get a chance if he couldn’t come on today. Done did well in keeping the defenders occupied in a way that maybe Cashman wouldn’t be able to do, but it’s looking like a wasted place on the quad at the minute. Overall I was impressed as I think that is a game we could easily have lost. Bradford looked poor!

Thought Andews hurt himself by trying to avoid their keeper and his foot getting stuck on the ground.

Agree it sounds like RS is talking about O'Keeffe. I'd love him to be here permanently, but I'm also increasingly beginning to wonder why it's not happened. I'd rather have someone with 90% of his talent but 120% commitment compared to someone who isn't bothered about being here and is holding the club to ransom to sign (if that is what is happening). Its now 2 games missed (almost 5% of the season) and if that's because he is holding out for more money it will be very disappointing... we may have had 1,2,3,4 or even 5 points more if we had a RWB playing at RWB. Fingers crossed we get clarity soon. [Post edited 22 Jan 2022 20:56]

If we don’t get O’Keeffe in by next week and with the solidity added by Downing in the back three, it was interesting to note how well Odoh did at RWB after the enforced subs. Far better than Broadbent there and actually more of a threat going forward once Newby came on. He also did really well defensively from a cross into the box that ended up with a fouls being given against him.

Reported elsewhere that O'Keeffe is attracting interest from Luton Town. That will be a factor in any delay and will make them favourites I would think.

Bradford City (h) match thread on 21:02 - Jan 22 with 4014 views | EllDale | My feelings midway through the second half were about how bad Bradford were. If we’d have played them a month ago with the likes of O’Keefe, Beesley and Morley in the team we may have scored a bagful. No point in living in the past though. I thought we showed plenty of resilience to keep regrouping after those three injuries. Felt a bit sorry for White who had looked sharp before starting to limp about ten minutes before he was eventually substituted. But what a revelation Clark was. He looked fit and raring to go and has a wicked cross in his repertoire. Downing too added so much to the defence. Watched him talking to his colleagues throughout, a real leader. Just what we’ve needed. Matty Done has more than a few critics on here but I thought that he put in a shift in the second half. As has been mentioned above I also thought we looked a lot more menacing with Newby and Odoh combining down the right later on in the game but whether or not we’d get away with that away from home is a moot point as far as I’m concerned. Anyone any idea what Andy Cook was complaining about so vociferously in the second half? Seemed to be claiming that he’d been elbowed? Ironic really as Angol had been all over EOC on a few occasions. Thought the referee was inept after halftime as well. Managed to wind up both sets of players even further when the game was feisty enough at times. If those three injuries are going to mean lengthy absences for the players concerned then we definitely need some fresh faces in the next week or so. And no more departures if it can be helped!
Bradford City (h) match thread on 00:52 - Jan 23 with 3543 views | Brierls | It was a scrappy first half, but I thought we looked reasonably solid. Second half we were much the better side and can’t help but think we’d have 3 points in the bag if we had somebody wanting to have a shot on goal. White getting injured (shock) was a blessing in disguise as Clark was excellent. Looks like an athlete, solid defensively, good going forward with a wicked cross on him. Downing has been a great addition and the back three now looks solid. I wasn’t expecting to sign a centre half and a left back but they’ve made such a difference. Broadbent isn’t working at right wing back but contrary to what’s been said above I thought he had his best showing for Dale when he reverted to his more natural midfield position. Dooley looks scared to shoot but he’s doing a good job in central midfield. Special mention for Done today. I don’t think he’s offered anything this season but he looked sharp today. He’s never lacking effort but there was more about him today. If he carries on that kind of performance then he’s at least an option from the bench. The injuries are a concern. Kelly’s doesn’t sound like it’s going to keep him out, but Andrews will probably need a scan on his ankle. Who knows with White. We needed another striker before we sold Beesley, we needed two after selling Beesley (and have signed Charman), and what happens now if Andrews is out longer than a few weeks? I expect us to cancel the Cashman loan, but we may see Andrews go back if his injury is serious.
Bradford City (h) match thread on 10:52 - Jan 23 with 3070 views | Dale_4_Life | Dale much better second half. All the new signings impressed today. Why are we so reluctant to shoot? Two points dropped yesterday Bradford were there for the taking.

Bradford City (h) match thread on 17:42 - Jan 22 by Shun | Quite enjoyed that! A nice feisty game that, if we had a striker playing, we probably would’ve won easily. The defence looks solid now and Clarke and Downing really impressed on their home debuts. I thought Newby was excellent when he came on and our play really sped up. Edit: I thought Broadbent was really poor, in both his positions. [Post edited 22 Jan 2022 17:44]

Its funny how people view the game differently. Both me and my mate thought Broadbent played well and was still going strong at the end. Granted he started slowly but that is not to be expected playing in a new role. He also moved from full back to midfield when Kelly went off injured and adapted well. He and Odoh caused a lot of problems for Bradford together down the right flank.
Bradford City (h) match thread on 11:17 - Jan 23 with 3008 views | EllDale | I don’t want to bang on about attendances unlike our friends from Bradford but, given the circumstances yesterday, was it diplomatic to announce the attendance figure broken down into home and away support? Their fans had been subdued for most of the second half but were reinvigorated after the announcement. A flare was set off and the hubbub seem to reenergise their team as well.
Bradford City (h) match thread on 11:48 - Jan 23 with 2901 views | 1907 | Honestly I’ve never seen anything as pathetic as Bradford’s obsession with attendances. It’s downright bizarre. What do they not understand about the fact they are a city with an attendance of over half a million. They should be far more bothered about how they were second best to us for the majority of the game. The two new lads were excellent and I agree with the positive comments about Broadbent I thought he did a pretty good job and was a very useful handyman yesterday. Not perfect but there’s definitely a decent player in there. I was really disappointed when Done was stripped to come on but he really surprised me and was much more effective than Andrews. Grant was good on the whole and looking more like the player he was last season. He’s one step ahead of most players in this division and has the best feet in the squad. The ref deteriorated throughout the game and made a few shocking decisions right in front of the main stand as the half progressed. The RWB situation is becoming something of a debacle now. If Corey wants to be here then he needs to stop pi55ing about and put his agent straight. I understand why the bright lights of Luton might be appealing to him but he’s not at that standard yet. He needs to be here and continue to develop. We need at least a striker this week, possibly two now. I’d love an older, experienced striker 30+ and then maybe another mobile unit who is looking to use us as a stepping stone. Next week is a ridiculously important game. We need to make amends for the appalling derby showing earlier in the season. We absolutely have to do them next week, no questions asked no excuses.

Bradford City (h) match thread on 12:51 - Jan 23 with 2714 views | 49thseason | I suspect the O'Keeffe situation has been entirely created by his Agent, I heard that we had put an offer to Mansfield before the window, then his Agent got involved , telling him to wait and see what happened during the window. Then, miraculously a couple of other clubs were interested. That interest has now evapourated but Mansfield, noting our 2 recent player sales, have asked for more money. RAFC has declined to increase its offer. He is out of contract this summer and now runs the risk of Rochdale finding a suitable Right Back during what is left of this window thus negating their interest and leaving the risk of O'Keefe being contractless over the Summer. and Mansfield out of pocket. All in all, a bit of a mess and hard to see that the lad is getting the best advice.

I've heard similar. Basically, he could spend the rest of the season sat in Mansfield's main stand on matchdays, if he's not careful, which could harm his chances of a move in the summer.

I agree that we shouldn't have shown the breakdown of the attendance at that point. What puzzled me even more though was the number of away fans was shown as roughly 2600 from memory yet the stand was virtually full and can hold 3600.

The first 2/3 rows in each block were covered, so that’s around 300+ seats gone straight away. The end two blocks nearest the Sandy weren’t full and plenty of fans were stood up so disguising the fact that a row of, say, 25 seats may only have 20 people on it. In fact, that was put to our Bradford friends over a decade ago and they could not cope with such an explanation. [Post edited 24 Jan 2022 14:49]

Thanks for that. As I sit in the Pearl St stand in the block closest to the Wilbutts it appears that all the blocks near the Sandy are full to capacity. Despite living in Leeds yet having a Bradford post code I can cope with the explanation
