Many professional footballers in the top leagues, and their clubs, have long been detached from reality but with the frankly obscene amounts of money which are now being lavished on players, not to mention the complete lack of self-awareness from some players and clubs (Messi  ), all set against the backdrop of a world where increasing numbers of people are seeing their lives devastated by the pandemic, wars, unrest and climate change, I am really struggling to give a damn about the Premiership.
That said, some players, clubs too including are own, are doing some work which demonstrates a strong social conscience, so I salute them.
Nevertheless, I am intrigued to see if Chelsea have bought the Lukaku that used to lose the ball for ManUre then just stand and watch as the opposition swept forward  |  |

First thoughts… Kelly Dalglish is looking a bit rough (not sure I’m allowed to say that these days)? The Brentford manager is still really annoying … l heard him talking earlier about “bees not being able to fly but Brentford have flown into the Premier League” (all a bit Eric Cantona)… Still not sure if I will watch it??? I don't really get why this would be a problem for us. It shows that it's possible to narrow the gap between us and some of the Uber rich clubs. I hope they continue to do well because it makes some of the stupid fees paid out look silly: Timo Werner £47.5 million, 35 games and 6 goals for the scum. Ivan Toney cost about a fifth of that, played one game in the Prem and already scored a goal.
