Might not be a popular opinion or idea, but with Bury now obviously gone and the current financial issues across the EFL, which by all accounts we are not safe from.
I remember a few years ago ideas floating about a Manchester North team.
Would fans ever consider the idea or ROCHDALE, OLDHAM and BURY area as currently no team, consider the idea of a joint MANCHESTER NORTH team?

Surely commercially this would be much bigger and allow a lot more revenue streams.

Also I can't help but think as a combined team would be attract a much higher ownership investment opportunity.

Lets be honest we are punching with very little opportunity to reach a higher level. Would this not allow us together this progress?

Only thoughts ? But interested to see how people look at that idea

Random I know, but after having a discussion with an oldham fan today, thought id ask on here.. I think its be asked before but with oldham and bury stuggling to pay bills and falling gates at rochdale .. Would people ever consider a merged club?? 10000 fans in a new stadium on kingsway ?? I think it might be the way for alot of clubs to survive in thr future..... What do others think?

So predictable.

So obvious.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

A merger would only improve the financial position if the fans continue to come through the turnstiles. That only happens if their hearts are in it. It looks very like they aren't. I guess some Dale fans would defect to Accy or maybe even Strathspey Thistle rather than be seen to support MNFC.

Edit - typo

Indeed. 8 years is pretty good going for a WUM though so credit where it’s due and all that.

And it would appear a minor contributor to this thread has been whooshed by your reply. Bless.

It was the Oldham chairman Ian Stott who mentioned a Northern Team and it didn’t go down too well he has now sadly passed away

Just passing through and I noticed this.
No thanks, I wouldn't go anywhere near it.
I'd rather go to Ramsbottom, Prestwich or Radcliffe myself.

By the way 300 pages and 1.2 million clicks on the other topic I see! Wow!

Aye, including a large number of clicks from bury fans who “rarely visit this board” apparently...

I used to come on this board quite a bit Kel.
That was back in the day when we used to have football team!
I've distanced myself from football more or less so I only have a quick glance around various sites every once in a while.
I seem to remember that you were up to about 700000 last time I looked?

I certainly didn’t mean you as it’s clear you’re not one of the bitters and have made good contributions in the past.

However, there’s a large number of bury fans who only hate one more thing than being talked about on here and that’s not being talked about on here. They can do the ‘we only hate Bolton’ thing all they like but deep down they know different.

You beat me to it.

I like the one who ventures over here ("rarely") and then reports back over there what's being said over here (which isn't much anymore). He gets from 0-2 replies, mainly from relatives.

No.

'Manchester North End' was a non-starter 20 years go and remains the same now. It was a fantasy from Oldham's Ian Stott, who also had his eyes on leading the FA.

bury are dead. Get over it.
