It is a strange anachronism of Swansea. Beaujolais noveau day was
Common in the late 80s/early 90s around the U.K. especially in London and the SE. It was a clever marketing ruse to get people to buy a pretty ordinary but quaffable light red
Wine at a mark up. Prior to this it was a bulk bistro wine in France. Gamay is a very light grape but can make a great light red. Beaujolais villages 2019 will be decent next summer. The named villages or crus need a bit longer. A 2018 would be OK now but probably peak next year. Fleurie is the best known but I like Morgon, Brouilly and Regnie
