Anyone had Heart surgery on 13:00 - Mar 2 with 1863 views | johncharles | A friend of mine had a heart valve replacement at the end of January. He was in the pub on Thursday having a pint. A very slow pint. Just the one but it was good to him looking so well. Hope it all goes well for you. Try not too get too excited when we thrash Brentford this afternoon. All the best.
| Strong and stable my arse. |

Anyone had Heart surgery on 13:41 - Mar 2 with 1797 views | Snipper | Wishing you all the best 2T2B. Heart surgery nowadays is so much better and safer than even 5 years ago. A friend of mine was told late last year that he needed quadruple heart surgery, and he was understandably bricking it. He had the surgery and he’s as right as rain. We’re all rooting for you fella. ðŸ‘👠

Anyone had Heart surgery on 20:28 - Mar 2 with 1504 views | collegeranger | a pal of mine had a failed valve in 2003 and his heart had swelled to 3 times the size. Fantastic Heart Surgeon replaced the valve (13 hour op) with a pig valve with great success. I saw him 2 days later expecting him to be on life support and more wires than a BT exchange. Sat up in his room fully dressed tucking into Fish and Chips! He was told that it would only lat 10 years. ....... They replaced it 2 years ago as a precaution and although now retired at 51 he leads a full and active life. Good Luck but and it will be a hard few weeks but they will sort you out! God Bless the NHS !

Anyone had Heart surgery on 20:45 - Mar 2 with 1468 views | BuzsakyIsGod | Hi there, I am a scrub nurse who assists with stents. Heart surgery now is a lot safer and now a quicker recovery which is fab. I always hate not being able to fix the arteries with stents and having to go with consultant to tell the patient it ha to be heart surgery however so many people have bypass surgery now. Also so many patients have TAVIs to too and are absoloutely fine. I wish you all the best. If you have any question just ask :)

Anyone had Heart surgery on 23:02 - Mar 2 with 1413 views | isawqpratwcity | Best wishes coming from where you might least expect them! As someone who has had two heart ablations (they stick a heat probe into your thigh and thread it up to your heart to cauterize a bit of errant tissue; I woke up once with a burnt ear so I think they might have got lost), believe me, they can do marvellous things as almost routine and you will be alright.

Anyone had Heart surgery on 12:19 - Mar 2 by BerkoRanger | YES. Back in the 90s I had two heart attacks. Urgent tests revealed I had an aortic root aneurysm when they rushed me into Harefield Hospital. It turned out it was the largest aneurysm (8.5cm) they had ever seen on someone still living! Sir Magdi Yacoub, the famous heart specialist, performed my heart surgery in a 9 hour operation and managed to save my heart valve so I didn't need a transplant.(And ALL on the NHS!) I still get checked out yearly in Harefield's outpatients, where there is a statue of Sir Magdi - it always brings a tear to my eye when I see it. I'm telling you this to encourage you as I am still here and fairly fit at 67 years of age (with a new Grandchild) so there can be long life after heart surgery. Show your heart surgeon this if you wish. One thing I have to be careful of though - too much stress. So why am I still supporting QPR??????? LOL Wishing you all the very best for the future, mate. |
Great story, and a tribute to what you as a patient can conquer and to what the miraculous medical staff deliver. Trust yourself, and trust others 2T2B. Amongst your friends and family, surround yourself with the strong focused people who'll drive you on and inspire you. Now's the time to call the A Team in.
