LFW Pub Guide - Shepherd and Flock Friday, 27th Jun 2008 22:17 by LFW The Shepherd and Flock, possibly the smallest pubs in the history of pubs, is the latest establishment to be reviewed by our team of roving, alcohol swilling, good for nothing message board posters. Name of pub - Shepherd and Flock Location - Goldhawk Road, two minutes from the tube next to the bookies. Size - Slightly smaller than your average greenhouse and much hotter. Selection of beers - Usual, no special real ale or anything like that. Price of drinks - Standard. How full does it get on a matchday? Well considering ten people in there counts as full on a matchday it gets absolutely rammed with people spilling out onto the pavement. Fitness of bar staff - Pretty damn good, why else would 150 QPR fans cram themselves into a room no bigger than a toilet cubicle for three hours every Saturday? How long does it take to walk to the ground from there? 10-15 minutes. Sky Sports? - Yes on two large flat screen televisions. Suitable for away fans? There won't be any trouble but there are better options elsewhere. Suitable for families and kids? They let kids in but I'd hardly call it suitable. Unless you get there three days before the match there won't be anywhere to sit for a start. What's the smoking situation? Benches outside. Beer garden - Three benches on the pavement outside. As far as pub toilets go, just how bad are these? The desk you're sitting at now reading this will be bigger, but they're reasonably clean. Does it serve food? No Trendy modern bar, traditional pub or somewhere in between? Traditional pub. In one sentence why should people visit/steer clear of this pub? Lots of friendly people and plenty of Rangers fans with Sky Sports on two good screens, but it's just far too small.# -Northernr
Name of pub: The Shepherd and Flock Location: Goldhawk Road just after you walk under the tube line on the right (walking away from the green). Size: Tiny, but with space outside. Selection of beers? Restricted! Guiness, Carslberg, Stella or Strongow. There are some bottled beers too. Price of drinks? Stella is pricy at £3.70, the rest nearer the £3 mark. Landlord does some 'quirky' offers such as '3 cans of Red Stripe for a fiver' now and again. Best not to ask how he acquired them. How full does it get on a matchday? Quite full. Normally standing room only. How fit are the bar staff? Well, it's pretty much only female Polish bar staff aged 20-30 and scoring between 6-8/10 on average. Like most things, this score increases the longer you're there. How long does it take to walk to the ground from there? 10-15min. Sky Sports/ESPN? Yes, It might be illegal though as it occasionally breaks. There are two wide screen TVs at either end of the bar, normally showing two different Sports channels. Suitable for away fans? No, not really. Suitable for families and kids? No, not really. This place definitely falls into the 'old style boozer' category. What's the smoking situation? Outside on the pavement. Beer garden? No, but there are some benches/tables on the pavement by the side road, which is rarely used. As far as pub toilets go, just how bad are these? Not too bad. Like the rest of the place tho, small. Does it serve food and is it any good? Don't be silly! This really is set up like a proper boozer. The closest you'll get to a meal is some dry roasted peanuts. Trendy modern bar, traditional pub or somewhere in between? Boozer. In one sentence why should people visit/steer clear of this pub? Not really sure. If you want to find a proper boozer, with no airs and graces, that allows you to drink with mates whilst being served by some fairly attractive Polish barmaids, this is for you. Any other business? No, just booze. -HunterHoop Other comments: AKA - The Vagrant. Guarantee of tramps, people selling CD's, others selling an assortment of goods that include: a bike, men’s ballroom shoes (size eight), bags of assorted meat. You will also likely sit next to: men smelling of urine and old women eating chicken. Should you obscure anyone’s view of the horse racing, you will be told in no uncertain terms. However, the barmaids are the most efficient in the Bush and often the best looking. - Fearless Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
