Credit to the players and Ralph. I think every XI hes picked this season has had plenty of negative comments pre match but they've always put in a performance. Feels like we're building something here. |

Just my opinion in but if we had gone 2 up top they'd have over run us in midfield. Ralph has gone attack minded like that in the past late in games and its cost us. West Ham were a very good side last season and have spent again in the summer, matching them up was sensible and using the bench well almost won the game. |

Disagree, taking a man out of midfield would have handed them a big advantage, let's not forget they were dominating possession. It was a tricky game and one of those where a moment of genuine quality was likely to win it. A 20yr old loanee almost provided it. |

Yep, dilemma for both managers, go more attacking but risk losing the defensive shape. It wasn't lack of ambition simply pragmatism. On balance Ralph got it right today, Broja very nearly the master stroke. I reckon KWP will be back in the side soon but the defensive display from the whole side was very good. what makes you think he'll be another Carillo? Like Salisu when he joined I've watched the YouTube videos, there's obvious talent there. Highly rated at international u23 level as well. Still raw for sure but like Salisu he's got potential. Not the finished article though, which as I said was really what we should have brought in. |

I see no parallels with Carillo, think he'll turn out to be a decent player for us but like most I was hoping we signed a player who would walk into the first XI. |

Let's see how fresh the international players are, I can't see Ralph bringing Bednerak in, even more so after playing last night. |

Arguably our best 11 players but not sure its our best team right now. How fresh those returning from international duty are will probably be the biggest factor influencing Ralph's thoughts. |

Shouldn't be hard for him to up his game and dislodge an 18yr old playing his first premier league season. |

Isn't that article and table complete bollocks though? For a start it says we've only spent £15M... that was the Armstrong fee alone, what about all the others..... |

Aye and I'd play him if it were me... I reckon Ralph would as well if allowed. would love to know the discussions going on between him and the board on this. |
| Forum Reply | Is Stuart Armstrong Heading Out Of St Mary's at 10:48 24 Aug 2021
According to Alan Nixon the journo, there is a club interested in him. It was him that put Christie together (2+2) in the story at the weekend. So there is potentially legs in this, even more so if he wants to return north and the club interested almost by default is Celtic. Given Armstrong featured in pre-season he would have been on the bench Sunday as he was at Everton, so either he has an injury or he's been unsettled/refusing to play. |

He was signed as a back up and I don't think anyone thought he'd become a regular. He took his chance though when Forster went through a massive dip in form and looked steady. Seem to recall he was even linked with Liverpool. The mistake the club have tended to make though with a few players is giving long contracts based on a relatively short run of decent form (you could add Stephens and even Long last year to that list). Forster really isn't that much better so lets stop putting him on a pedestal. |
| Forum Reply | McCarthy is costing us points at 09:44 24 Aug 2021
I suspect that Forster has made it clear he won't be staying but that he also has shown no interest in a move away because he's on stupidly high wages that he'll likely never earn again in his career which will of course include appearance and clean sheet bonus' that are off the scale. That's most likely pissed the club off who would have wanted to get his wages off the bill and enable them to sign a replacement. Every chance Ralph has been told to not play Forster in league games anymore. The decision to extend FF all those years ago seemed bizarre even then, in our position now it could be disastrous. |
| Forum Reply | any sign of any centre backs? at 17:47 23 Aug 2021
The fella from Torino has passed his medical apparently so should be announced soon. I wouldn't get your hopes up on any other centre backs incoming though. |

I agree, for now it makes more sense to keep a settled backline injuries permitting. You'd think the only decision is re Walcott next week. Great performance today and that's 2 weeks in a row that starting XI put in a decent first 45. Changes had to be made second half and they were. Better finishing would have won it. |
