| Your Report | Millwall v Southampton Your Report added at 17:39:12 Lacking the clinical edge but hopefully that will materialise when Stewart is fit. Defence 100X better than two months ago. AAs work rate is definitely a factor and not sure why everyone knocks him. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 09:30:18 Baz stepped up a level and was my MOTM, with Arma a close second. Shea, Flynn and Fraser on this performance are great signings. Lucky to win this one but getting results as we go. Momentum is everything and moving into the last bit of the window our 10 points adds to the attraction of us for incoming options. QPR definitely are not the no hopers that many have been saying. |
| Your Report | Leicester City v Southampton Your Report added at 08:13:26 Like the use of AA in the winger attacking midfield position, adds plenty value there and made at least one good steal to recycle possession. Moussa has also grown into the LB position. KWP was brilliant. Che bossed the defence once he came on. Mara had his moments though and obviously has the pace to get in behind if we want to play that way. It's early days but ABK looks like the real deal. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Arsenal Your Report added at 12:31:28 That is 11 points against the traditional big 6 and the only losing record in the big 6 is against Chelsea and Liverpool (that could still be turned around). Still think we were robbed by the Kyle Walker pen decision away which would have made that even better. I suspect we would be further up the table if we were not as adventurous against teams we see as lesser, but then maybe not as attractive to watch.. Given the money we have spent this to me is highly acceptable. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Manchester City Your Report added at 06:20:10 The following stood out for me: Romeu's passing Stu's "running around" Sally's MOTM performance Romain's huge effort KWP's goal and linking on the RHS Getting the VAR breaks for a change |
| Your Report | Southampton v Manchester United Your Report added at 19:15:16 First time we have seen a proactive Plan B and it earned us a point (Theo for Bednarek). Also the other two subs were more proactive from RH. Real fighting performance across the team. Very thankful that Cavani was not in the MU matchday squad. Still not great defence at set pieces but we got away with it. Our attack looked sharp with Che being my MOTM for his hold up play and general all round game. Had a chance to win it but AA was to "safe" with his attempt. But very happy with the rest of his game. I think RH was right to persist with Djenepo who is improving and could develop into a top player. Tino Livramento is the transfer of the season so far. |
| Your Report | Everton v Southampton Your Report added at 20:37:57 Positives Livramento, Adam Armstrong, I also thought Djenepo is coming along. I'm not saying I agreed with the line-up but they performed well. -ve's I don't get that KWP and Armstrong who were 2 of our best players last year did not start. Theo was absent. For sure Stuart Armstrong or even Tella would have been a better starter. Weve seen the pattern of conceding a lead so often, and weve seen Stuart Armstrong is effective in defensive midfield, he is a way better option to have on the pitch when the going gets tough to shore up our defensive midfield in a Plan B. Fraser had the better pre-season with way less goals conceded and should have started. Iwobi came on and affected the game and they scored and then we took off one of our more effective players in Romeu, replace with Diallo and they scored again. I would love it if we took the initiative for a change and made an early sub. |
| Your Report | Sheffield United v Southampton Your Report added at 05:11:41 All the players in their best positions, Diallo and KWP risked from the start was the key decision. Diallo fantastic pass to put Tella in on goal for the pen. MOTM toss up between Armstrong, Tella and KWP. Che with a instinctive thunderbolt. Fleck should have walked for the tackle on Che. |
| Your Report | Leeds United v Southampton Your Report added at 06:38:18 Pitch was a shocker, Leeds should be fined. Loaning Valery out was brain dead as Bednarek at RB worked against Chelski but not in this one, we need Bednarek in the middle. Salisu is good long term but needs to be introduced slowly. FF should have been given a go 2 weeks ago already. Long would not have given up in the 2nd half, need someone who runs their socks off to help stop the traditional 2nd half collapse. Either letting him him sign a new contract for 60K a week was brain dead or loaning him out was brain dead - choose one. Things started going South when Ings and Bertrand did not sign new contracts, should have sold them in January and got people in who want to play for us long term. Letting Target go instead of Bertie was brain dead. Matty Cash handball still upsets me the most and that was weeks ago. Do we have recall clause in Lemina's loan? |
| Your Report | Southampton v Wolverhampton Wanderers Your Report added at 07:39:36 Painful. Bad officiating, including two corner calls that went against us regardless of the inconsistent handballs. We played a strong team Thursday that probably also lead to us running out of gas in the 2nd half. KWP injury is a disaster as we are a different team when he plays. Mystified why we didn't get Tella onto the pitch after his impact on Thursday. Also had FF in my FPL team as was convinced that he would start. Also think if you want to play pace up front Long is going to keep the opposition more worried about attacking than Redmond. Except we loaned him out. We must really be in Financial trouble if we needed to loan Valery out as well. That looks like a horrendous decision given Diallo's injury as he could probably do a job there. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur Your Report added at 19:01:47 All teams who play us know they need to hit us on the break. When the opposing teams have pace and they are clinical finishers like Son then we get something like we saw today. Che Adams had a few excellent chances and did not convert which also probably cost us. We need pace in the defensive midfield. You may laugh at this but I would try to see if Shane Long could do a job there, because he has the pace , can head the ball and his distribution has been ok in the past and clearly is second choice to Adams for the striker role. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 06:22:00 Southampton lacked spark and Crystal Palace didn't come to play. Seriously missing the work effort of Armstrong. Romeu and Redmond had one of their worst games in a Saints shirt. Would have been totally different if we had scored first but we did not. Teeth pulling stuff, but also equally glad I'm not a Palace supporter and would have to watch them every week. The Roller Coaster of being a Saints fan starts again. |
