Sky Sports is having to suffer reduced coverage of major events, can pretend but really isn't bothered with the less high-profile stuff, continuing to raise prices and generally becoming far less attractive. I currently have a good value (I think) Sky TV package and efficient Broadband etc. But the Sports subscription is coming ever closer to being binned. And I don't think Sky will be changing anytime soon to stop that happening. |

Where would Portugal and Argentina be without their main man? And Brazil without Neymar would be a lot less difficult to deal with. Most of the teams still in are based on all players being on form and contributing their maximum. France and Belgium ae the only ones who seem to have a number of different individuals who can win them games on their own. I'd say England were with Portugal and Argentina in that we need Kane to be at his effective best when looking at hopes of any kind of success. But even his performances would probably be improved by a fit Deli Ali. And we do have the set-piece thing to fall back on (no other team has a Fellaini who has aerial power and a great knowledge of English football and footballers to draft in). |

My last dog died from a punctured bowel after a raw knucklebone splintered and compacted in his gut. Vet said it should be never, never, NEVER give dogs bones. Chicken bones, cooked or otherwise can splinter very dangerously. And slightly related ---- You used to be able to go to the butchers or fishmongers and get bones etc for stock-making. Now fishmongers are very rare and the last time I asked in my butchers I was told that their chain had a contract with a restaurant chain and absolutely everything not sold went to them. And when I was at school from the late 60s onwards, it was like hand-to-hand combat when buses arrived (almost always instigated by people over a "certain age" --- and usually older women) and the kids and young blokes lost out every time. Probably because we'd been taught "proper" behaviour while the old folk were cynical. pragmatic and ultimately totally selfish (unless it was relevant to their grandchildren I suppose?). So --- so much for genrealisations? |

I've got an electric knife and very useful it can be too. Do jokey socks count (I have a drawful of unused ones received as presents)? |

And just what are you doing on here when you have so many other apparently more important things to concern yourself with? |

And the post you have quoted by timcocking gives the impression he hasn't bothered reading the thread. [Post edited 10 May 2018 0:06]

"Fully met" --- in that it was as poor as I expected it to be (though never quite poor enough to fall below the ones who would clearly --- Sunderland excepted --- always likely be deepest in the relegation mire. Even the cups lived fully down to expectations. There was little sign of any improvement in performances or results (especially on the road) and it would be no surprise if the few that performed better than the rest (and/or showed potential) were gone before the new season to be replaced with unknowns (or, knowing IH) players who were very well known mainly because they had been around a very long long time. It'd be nice if we could stick with the kids but then again, IH can't coach so he'd probably actually be better with aging journeymen who he can just tell to go out and get on with it. All things staying equal, I can't see any likely improvement for next season and, since football rarely allows clubs to stand still. the chances of us sliding nearer to (or into) relegation trouble would seem to be a fair bet. IMO. |

And ---Are such stats deemed irrelevant now (even by the Beeb)? And --- Does anyone have any idea the best place to find such info (without resorting to each individual home club's website)? |

And I can't find attendance figures for any of them. Not even on the Beeb (mind you, they are becoming ever less efficient with much of their on-line stuff). Or am I just looking in the wrong places ?????? |

With Bill Bailey and Sean Walsh --- covering the entire length (or would it be width?) of the social spectrum. |

I generally do more useful things on the rare occasions I am sober. |

Gillard and Wilson wee both great. But at different times, in teams playing different styles of football and (a fair bit) at different levels). So I'd put them equal best. |

Bought by Man City as the final piece to confirm their dominance this season. To any Rs fan sentient and sober in 1972, what has followed the signing of Sanchez might produce some feelings of deja vu. |
