| News Comment | Bolton hand QPR reality check — full match report at 13:05:14
Thanks for the report Clive and the respective posts all raise very clear points. As always, it is about opinions. I and a few others in Ellerslie Rd thought that Gabbidon had a good game but just lacked that match sharpness. The fitness for the entire team in the 2nd half just wasn't there, perhaps this was due to the loss of confidence and heads dropping, only Warnock and his staff will know. On the flip side of the centreback partnership, Hall looked extremely tired (2nd half), was out of position and left Gabbidon AND Orr exposed as well as giving away silly freekicks. Only the latter has been mentioned. Last year I wondered whether the 4-2-3-1 formation will see us through the championship and in the premier league. I agree it can work but with the right players (square pegs, round holes and all that). In terms of tactics on Saturday we were left exposed and simple tactics such as having your anchor midfielders sit in front of the 2 centrebacks to stop Davis having a field day just wasn't happening and some of the reasons could be due to them being pulled out of position to fill in on the left/right midfield. This is just one game and I'm sure we can improve from it!! |
