Thoughts?

I like meat too much to ever go veggie, but I will cheerfully swap to this as soon as it's feasible. Would prefer that to factory farmed meat, even if it costs a little more.

I saw the story and it disgusts me. Like every other science "advancement" we should be asking if we should do it and I for one detest the idea of Frankenfood. They put too mnay chemicals in our food now, what will be in this lab grown stuff?

We muck about with nature too much, one day we'll dewtroy ourselves and we most likely won't even see it coming until too late.

We have already identified ultra processed food as problematic, even more processing seems inappropriate.

Just seen a bit on catch up news of some reporter viewing a bit of modified steak and then saying it looked so yummy , looked horrific to me to see , the lab asisstant then promptly took the plate away , you cannont eat that yet .

Pot Noodle was developed in a Lab , I eat them in a rush , bit of a joke food but fills a gap .

Start playing around with a core staple diet to many carnivores , add in the chemicals and additives to the alternative , who knows cheaper food or save the Planet .

I am quite surprised by the level of opposition. Factory farming requires the animals to be pumped full of steroids, antibiotics and who knows what else so being able to skip that part (and the obvious cruelty) seems like a win-win.

If I can get a steak that tastes exactly the same but nothing had to die to provide it then I shall.

There is a long way to go yet, but with the right safety controls I would eat it.

Food is really only a bunch of chemicals anyway. I suppose it's the next step from things like Huel. I know lots of people who swear by it.

Ultimately its probably much better for you than eating a cheap sausage or burger.

I'm not a fan of factory farming either, it's been said it's not harmful to humans but they tell lies, these corporate greedy buggers. We may not find out for 40 years if it really is harnful to humans and by then it;'s probably too late.

All these problems we see today, so many kids with ADHD, autism etc, what is causing this rise? Is it all down to better diagnosis or have case actually risen?

I am somewhat cynical of many of the new conditions discovered by child psychologists that require significant support from child psyschologists. Lovely work creation scheme.

I'm cynical of it too. Still I will stand by my opinion that we need to go back to grass roots, learn to live WITh nature again and stop trying to control it.

Oh well then it’ll be our time. 99.9% of every species that has ever lived on this planet is now extinct. What makes us so special? We’re just floating around on a tiny little bit of space dust in a virtually infinite and expanding universe.

The worst thing is we don’t appreciate the miracle that any of us are here in the first place.

We're hardly special us humans, we (well us white people) are the most harmful and destructive species to ever exist, we're selfish, greedy and self serving. The planet would be better off without us.

We are here by the laws of averages, somewhere in this vast universe will be a similar planet with a similar evolution but maybe they will be smartr than us on thjis rock.

I don't believe in miracles.

No colour or creed can claim that over the years they've been the custodians of the planet , each in their own way have had a negative impact on our natural resources , the Amazon for example albeit the indigenous population have been party to its destruction, mass pollution in Asia, the list goes on. I agree that the planet would be better off without some of us as I believe there's enough who care enough to make a difference.

“We are here by the law of averages”

No we are not!

The mere fact that you, Sultanareturned are here at all is a 1 in a 250,000,000 chance. You were the sperm that won the race to the egg. If you had lost that race then you’d be (despite being genetically very similar) a completely different individual. You are special.

Going further, there was a study a few years ago that asserted that when you look at the all the perils and dangers and bottleneck events our ancestors had to face all the way back to the formation of the first life cells on Earth the likelihood of any of us existing at all is 1 in 10 with so many 0’s on the end of it it’s more than the number of atoms thought to be in the universe. In short the chances of any of us existing in the first place is virtually zero.

Just wondering why farmers appear to be a target by governmens , giving up 20% of arable land so they can claim subsidies , amending the inheritance tax which will allow smaller farms to be swallowed up by big cooperations .A whole lot more I'm sure to be dismissed I'm sure 😊

YYou say no we are not then go on to provide a statistical figure that means on average 1 in 250,000,000....we don't know how different I would have been, there is no way to prove anything, that is pure supposition and opinion, not fact. Depends if you believe in nature or nurture too, are we born to be who we are or does our upbringing determine it, I think it's a mix peronally.

1 in 10, another average. Virtually zero isn't zero and the fact there doesn't seem to be any intelligent life anywhere near us (and, observably that's a very long way away too) supports your theory.

Betting odds don't rule something out from happening, they represent the average chance of it happening. We happened, against long odds yes but we still happened.
