Everton points deduction reduced 13:50 - Feb 26 with 21412 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | Reduced by 4 points to 6. Can't surely have them get relegated rather than little old Luton. What a joke. Good thing is it pulls Brentford down a little further.

Everton points deduction reduced on 14:49 - Mar 18 by lassel | I read a conservative estimate that there will be over a million documents in discovery on the City case, in that context it’s not surprising that it takes a few years to put the case together. |
Nearly as many as the LFW season preview.

Everton points deduction reduced on 15:19 - Mar 18 by stevec | It would probably have been 1 point if Luton had beat them yesterday. Can’t help thinking all the points deductions/appeals are being determined with a view to sending Luton back to the Championship. |
It probably will be 1 point once they've appealed.
Everton points deduction reduced on 15:43 - Mar 18 with 4191 views | Toast_R | 4 points is a joke, a win and a draw. Might as well break the rules if you think doing so will accumulate 4 extra points or more. Whole thing needs chucking in the bin. It's sucking the life out of being a football fan to be honest.

Not sure how that works, these points deductions are the only chance Luton have, they haven't won in months
Everton points deduction reduced on 16:48 - Mar 18 with 3981 views | ted_hendrix | Waste of time, load of bullshit It's not punishment at all. Everton and Forest get point deductions yet will probably both survive which equates to them not getting punished at all. They should be financially penalised no ifs or buts about It, their financial reward for staying In the Prem due to them cheating should be taken from them and donated to the NHS or Shelter the homeless charity or whoever. Utter nonsense as usual.

Everton points deduction reduced on 17:59 - Mar 18 with 3732 views | Ned_Kennedys | Way too low: what a joke and no deterrent for clubs wanting to sign three whole teams in one season. Apparently it would have been 6 points but they were let off 2 points as they admitted the breach: well they had no choice did they as it’s based on their own Accounts. And their main defence was that they would’ve been ok if only they hadn’t waited another two months to sell Johnson to Spurs which is a laughable reason. Alternatively if they’d only resisted signing six of the thirty plus players they’d have been ok. Precedent now set for Everton to be given four points as well: both teams will stay up comfortably and the Premier League will be delighted about that.
Everton points deduction reduced on 18:04 - Mar 18 with 3702 views | hantssi | If they stay up this season they’re still in trouble with the amount of players on BIG wages so will probably (hopefully) be done again next year and won’t get off as lightly again. Plus, it’s likely the 3 going up this season will be a lot stronger than the 3 who went up last season so I think they’re still in big trouble. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Everton points deduction reduced on 19:09 - Mar 18 with 3555 views | ManinBlack | Despite it being a good result for Forest they have made a lengthy bleating statement moaning that the PL wanted 8 points deducted. Having only half that then they should be grateful as a further two points were not deducted because they co-operated. Better than receiving a hefty fine. Mind you they are right that all of this benefits the top clubs and restricts mobility for the rest.

wish they'd just accept it rather than appealing, I know we'd do the same but feels like they got off quite lightly so not sure what the point is of dragging it out even more

Because they want to make certain they don’t get relegated, and Everton have proved that an appeal is likely to be worthwhile.

Financial Fair Play -- do they just make up the rules as they go along or do rich guys get by balls because they are afraid of the legal fees it would take to enforce the rules.

I agree. The rules for all this seem to be being made as they go along. It's all allegedly being scrapped next season so what's the point?

Agree. There should be some punishment if a club submits a frivolous appeal that presents the same argument and evidence already considered at the main hearing. This would deter clubs from appealing just for the sake of it.

Quite right Benjamin! Generally, you can only appeal if you have new evidence that has come to light which, if known at the time, would likely alter the outcome; the court/tribunal has severely misdirected itself in terms of its understanding of the applicable laws, as to render its decision unsafe; or, its decision is so unreasonable based on the facts/laws of the case, that no reasonable court/tribunal would have reached the same decision. Having a second bite of the cherry merely because you don't like the taste of the first, is indicative of a poor and ill-conceived appeals process in my view. Let's face facts: the whole FFP thing has been a shocker from the get-go, and merely highlighted how appalling football is at properly regulating itself, and given gas to the notion that the bigger they come, the softer they fall, if they fall at all! In summary: fcuk 'em!

Everton points deduction reduced on 07:34 - Mar 19 with 2873 views | SimonD | The PL don’t have a sliding scale like there is the the EFL. Up until Everton they hadn't even given the punishment a thought. Forest breached the FFP upper limit by £34.5m! The punishment was 3 points for breaching, a further 3 points because it was a big breach, but with 2 points deducted for good behaviour (admitting the beach and helping with the investigation process). A breach of that scale would be hit with 12 points in the EFL before any aggravated circumstances or mitigation. [Post edited 19 Mar 8:29]

Would not be surprised if it's looking a tad sniffy for Everton towards the end of the season, if they not only get their deducted points back, but are awarded a few extra for all their aggravation they've suffered.

Leicester have done the very QPR thing of illegally gaining a massive sporting advantage to put together a team which gets relegated.
Everton points deduction reduced on 19:52 - Apr 3 with 1349 views | saxbend | This reminds me of another thought I had about a possible financial rule change. What if parachute payments were optional? Any relegated club could pay one point for every £10M they choose to receive as a parachute, up to whatever the maximum currently is. Of course P&S would still apply so a team choosing not to accept the payments who then breached their spending limit would get the corresponding points deduction anyway.
