This movement seems to be growing back in Blighty, don't want to start a war into the should we shouldn't we debate. Not living in Wales or the UK for that matter I'd be interested to hear what the benefits are to those living in Wales?
Currently it is not something I would support as I'm a proud Brit and a proud welshman. But that doesn't mean I'm not open to change. My biggest concern is where would that leave the Swans, would we still be able to play in the current format or would we have to revert back to league of Wales, if the latter then that alone would convince me not to support it.

Actually UK I think the way the OP has phrased it is important.
IF Welsh independence is ever to be achieved, voters need to be convinced of the benefits including what it is the country has to offer. It needs to be celebratory. It’s needs to be built on a wave of positivity.
What won’t work is the way way some posters post on here - essentially all English are horrible and we need to get away.
I’m not keep on independence at the moment but I don’t intend to shut the door on it. I enjoy johnlangly’s thoughtful post and always keep an eye out for him. Unfortunately others make my thinking go in the opposite direction.
For me it’s a bit like the JustStopOil lot. Their aim may be laudable but some of their actions mean they’ll never get my support. | | | |

Said it before and I will say it again i.e. Welsh inhabitants North/South/East and West are often treated in ENGLAND by ENGLISH NHS services.
Clatterbridge Hospital (Wirral/cancer)….Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmigham/liver)….Moorfields Hospital (London/eyes)….Royal Papworth Hospital (Cambridge/heart+ lungs)....Royal Brompton Hospital(London/heart+lungs).…Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital (London/numerous children specialites). etc. etc. etc.
The Welsh NHS is heavily reliant on English NHS and Wales is rather lucky to be under the same U.K NHS umbrella. After independence that will no longer be. Add to that Westminster funded R.A.F aviation i.e. Sea King Helicopters used to transport Welsh patients in emergencies to specialist English hospitals.
Wales is ruled by a clown and his merry band of yokels whom have been proven to be utterly incapable of improving Wales transport structure beyond its (reported Wales This Week) 1960's standard.

Couldn’t agree more but in reality the clown you refer to won’t be in control because Labour are very unlikely to offer a referendum. Only Plaid at this moment in time would do that and correct me if I’m wrong, but they’re behind the Tories in numbers of seats presently.

The people who seem to want independence are the same types who have a form of misguided patriotism that detaches themselves from all reality. That's all they have got to do is look at the record of Welsh government since its been in existence.
Stirring anti-English songs of defiance and romantic imagery involving castles, green-fields, Eisteddfod bards and coracles means absolutely s*d all, it does not improve Welsh economy, infrastructure or services.
Welsh language professor types from places like Machynlleth love the idea of full independence though...Forever resentful because English soldiers invaded Wales many hundreds of years back armed with bows and arrows and swords.

I think a lot of the current rise in popularity for independence in Scotland and N Ireland (elections would say it isn't the case in Wales) is down to the shocking state of the Westminster government and recent opposition.
I'm not a supporter of independence at all, it would be a disaster for the majority of Wales. I don't see how it would work.
I'm hoping for a complete change of government, attitude and direction after the next general election and the indy movement stagnating. Any hint of independence and I'll be moving over the border. | | | |

I was referring to services provided at various centres of speciality in England that provide a service to the entire U.K by means of belonging to ONE interconnected organisation. Blessed to have that, lucky to have that as opposed to not having it at all because Wales would be divorced from it.
And we are indeed lucky in Wales to have those services provided by England when you consider that it took the protest-resignation of one of SW Wales leading cancer specialists/proffesors to get modern equipment at Singleton Hospital.
Indeed lucky we are not to be in a situation where re-organisation would have to placed into the hands of incompetent buffoons who judged a white-elephant opera house in Cardiff as being more important than a life-saving scanner or radiotherapy machine. | |

I can agree with that, look at Brexit for the example. Cameron and Osborne tried to scare us into voting remain and what happened? trying to scare people into voting leave may only have the same effect, try to give people good reasons for leaving and stop harping on about why its bad to remain. | |
