Remember reading something fairly recently about Wellens and his views on his time there and things going on at the club, a bit eye opening....

Given that the part owners of the club come from the dynasty where Ferguson was given lots of time and then paid that loyalty back in spades, Salford have a thirst for instant success. Really thought they would show a bit more savvy than that displayed so far.
As a board they are either failing to identify the manager they need or are just to quick to pull the trigger. Either way I am not sure they will recognise their failings.

FRMSE was on one of their commentary games recently and basically said they should sack him and replace him with Michael Appleton. Awful thing for a fellow ‘professional’ to say while he had another year left on his contract.

Appleton would fit the template.
Salford born and a Manchester United player at one stage alongside the owners.
Am I right in thinking that he was once awarded over £1 million in damages from the surgeon who operated on his knee with a certain Gary Neville being one of the key witnesses?

FRMSE was doing an Oldham game towards the end of season and he slagged off Keith Curle's time there basically saying he'd been useless. Pot and Kettle sprang to mind.

I thought Wellens would have been in the same boat with him being ex United and also a Salford lad but that didnt seem to be the case.

Another underwhelming spell in an underwhelming career from an underwhelming manager.

I'm surprised Bowyer has lasted as long as he has at Salford with their expectations . The owners thought League Two would be a cinch. That tells you everything about their knowledge of lower league football and attitude and arrogance.

If the next manager doesn't get promotion in the first season, he'll be on his bike as well. And so it will continue.

Only a couple of years ago there was an ex manager of ours (no, not FRMSE) who would have loved this job.
He’s probably viewed as damaged goods these days though.

Presumably he will soon be issuing his 'retained and released' list. With regard to a late career striker who spent most of the season injured, might he allow him to return to the club for which he scored 112 league goals?

And would we want Hendo back?

It’s not been the best of weeks for Salford City.
It looks like their bid for the AJ Bell is on ice for 2022/23 after local businessman Sebastian Gerrard has put in a bid to buy the stadium and guarantee Salford’s RL team tenure there.
I remember the Gerrard family being big backers of Swinton in the 1960s and 1970s so I doubt if there’s anything shady or suspicious about the move.

Didn't take Gary Bowyer long to get a job as he's been appointed as manager of Dundee today.
Didn't know that Gordon Strachan was Director of Football there.

I do think Salford are embarrassing in terms of how they get through managers, particularly when Gary Neville has consistently criticized clubs for dismissing managers too often, but at the same time they probably had the biggest budget in League Two last season and finished 10th.

He's just not a very good manager.

It would be interesting to know where Gary Neville and his co-owners actually see Salford in 5,10,15 years time.
In the championship perhaps? But at what stage do they become hampered by no real fan base and/or salary cap restrictions?
