Will the last one out the door turn off the lights (Peterborough match thread) 14:11 - Feb 5 with 23870 viewstraininvain

Looks like I’m all alone on here today as everyone’s gone to Peterborough!

Strong starting 11 balanced with resting some keys players. I’m happy with the team and pleased to see Willock, Barbet, Field and Adomah rested ahead of Middlesbrough.

Dykes and Austin really letting the team down today, but then the manager goes and subs off Chair to snuff out our last creative spark. Unfathomable - unless the tactical plan was to lose the game!

Poll: What finish can/should we be anticipating this season?

Brilliant finish by their guy. We look half-arsed. Austin has been shocking

I’ll take this if it means PBoro go on a confident run after and relegate Reading

True. Not won in the league must have been what the commentators meant.

Austin is washed up and I really hate saying that.

But what bothers me most is why the fck has he messed about with the positions of Dunne and Dickie, just to accommodate the loan from Wolves? Their confidence has been sky high, I’m concerned the effect this might have.

We have really gone down after taking off Chair and Stefan. Warbs obviously more concerned with next week.

One of those days. Prefer to see it happen today than Wednesday.

Ball just bounces off Austin like he's a lamppost.

I guess we'll have Willock and Field back for Wednesday and they've probably been our best players last few games. Nothing against Sanderson who's had a fair game but I'd have Barbs back in to restore the ideal balance to the back three.

I wonder if he wanted to give Dickie a game in the centre to give him experience in case Dunne ever gets injured or needs a rest?

What a stuff up

Should have left defence as it was and played Willock instead of Chair

Austin has been rubbish

My point exactly! We go from throwing cup games in advance to throwing them after 60 minutes. Warburton should really be challenged in the post-match interview, but won't be, of course.

I've no real problem with the team selection. He's still put out a strong team we've just been caught out a couple of times and are effectively playing with 10 men.

Have a look at your post again, and you may want to rewrite it! Tema selection fine, but a 10 man team? Wake up!

Agreed.

The only problem I had with the XI is Austin, but that's an old sore with me.

I don't know, Adomah's shot goes in or Chair scores instead of hitting the bar and we probably go on to win. Oh well we usually bounce back pretty well so hoping for better against Boro

I don't think those 3 have been the problem though.

Needs to be collective responsibility definitely but Austin has been quite a bit worse than Gray was in the last round, which is saying something.

I'm wary of scapegoating, especially someone who has served our club so we'll, but I'm losing patience with Austin. He should be a last 15 minutes man at most. I wonder how much influence he has on Warburton. He's a big personality.
