Mass going too on 14:21 - Jun 26 by Benny_the_Ball | Yes it'll be interesting to see what Warburton has planned for Scowen (and indeed Chair, Wheeler, Manning and Goss). Potentially Hall (if he can get/stay fit) and Manning can play defensive midfield, leaving the likes of Scowen to operate further forward. Having made a public case for playing further forward Scowen will be under pressure to deliver should he be given the opportunity there. |
I think Goss might get a bit more of a look in given the likely departures and MB's preferred style of play. I'm probably in a very small minority who thinks he might still come good.

Topped the tackles league month after month and i rarely saw him give the ball away. He may not have been capable of a one touch game but bear in mind that he was playing with people like Connor Washington and Joel Lynch. Who else is capable of Tika Takka in that squad. Would be a big loss and as much of a fan of Manning and Scowen as I am I think it would be a step down. Only seen Goss play about 4 times but strikes me as a bit of a luxury player. Big season for Eze and Chair I think. [Post edited 26 Jun 2019 22:00]

Or maybe some of them (the better ones) have helped us to avoid relegation for 3 seasons ? Had we sold Freeman a year ago, I’m pretty sure we’d not still be a Championship side.

Agree with this. Whilst Freeman is probably the better player, losing Luongo strikes me as being potentially more dangerous for a team that has struggled to get a grip of games for long periods. Without Luongo the midfield looks seriously lightweight to me. Fingers crossed we can find a combination that works.

Not sure they're like for like. Lounge (bloody auto-correct drives me up the wall) a more tidy player on the ball, better at linking play i'd have thought than Scowen who is a box to box player really. Scowen, much as i love the fella, doesn't seem a great ball player at this level, struggles a bit trying to keep possession, especially at the tight confines of Loftus Road. I don't see Warburton liking Josh Scowen.

Mass going too on 12:20 - Jun 25 by FDC | I totally understand the logic and the necessity of selling the likes of Luongo and Freeman (if he goes). It is still quite alarming to see two of the first names on the team sheet leave though. To tie in to Clive's post above, if we ever properly implemented the buy-cheap and sell-high strategy for a couple of seasons, the hysteria and anxiety around seeing players leave would probably subside. But obviously that takes a bit of back-bone in the short-term. |
You are right we could all accept this if the club were consistent but then they do things like suddenly change the manager and bring in massively expensive loan signings and blow the whole strategy out of the water. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'm sure Warburton has aspirations to turn him into some kind of McEachran type who is tidy on the ball and can maintain possession in CM. But the difference is that by the time McEachran went to Brentford he had 80 odd appearances under his belt. Goss has around 25 appearances in his whole 'career', he will be 24 this year. The absolute worst example of a modern footballer and one of the poorest signings in recent years. I'm very disappointed that he's still with us.

Couldn't agree more. However I would be very disappointed in Warburton if he didn't dispense with Goss at the earliest opportunity. To sort of paraphrase an earlier poster, ''I'm probably in the vast majority who think he won't ever come good''. The man's a total waste of oxygen.

The lad has only had 6 appearances for us. Unless we have a Glasgow Rangers fanatic amongst us I doubt any of us really know what he’s like. Give him a chance.

Big season for one of them - can't see both playing unless Eze is going to be converted to an out and out striker.

I don't think that we have anyone capable of retaining the ball to be honest. Freeman and Eze can beat players, but they are not great passers although they probably are the best of a god awful bunch. That is why I think that we looked crap against teams sitting back waiting for us to do something - we were incapable when they were set up to defend. We were better against teams who opened up. If Warburton is after a possession based team, then I reckon that the overhaul he is threatening is a necessity - we simply couldn't keep the ball. Just a ten yard pass to feet would do and at times we had players who couldn't even do that...

Or we would of been able to bank some cash and found an adequate replacement instead the board wanted to be popular instead of doing what’s best for the club which has been their problem since the beginning [Post edited 27 Jun 2019 14:58]

Who to? Sending him out on loan again to defray some of his salary is the only realistic option. Which is basically what the club's already been doing.
Mass going too on 21:50 - Jun 27 with 2296 views | 08olesen | I think this is the worst possible player loss for us. Mass might lack much going forward but he has energy and is great in the tackle. I fear if we lose him, teams will go through our lightweight midfield like sieve. I understand we are in the shite financially but we will be even worse off if we are in L1! Mass is 7/10 most games IMO, we should do everything we can to keep him. Could also be a good captain too.

Could do with giving himself a chance. Clearly has zero interest in ever playing any actual football.
