The Jimmy Armfield statue 10:58 - Sep 13 with 3491 viewsSeasider91

Is now weed free I saw workmen working on it as I was going past the ground yesterday. I would like to thank BST for bringing this issue to the clubs attention whop have acted upon it.

Think you'll find it was BSA who acted on it and paid for it.

Well done BSA.

Well done BSA as well then. So the club itself has done nothing as per then.

TAM offered to sort it out although the club said they would but never did! Well done to BSA for sorting it out anyway.

Aaah, the statue we raised in honour of Jimmy "Dignified Silence" Armfield. God bless all those who haven't remained dignified or silent over the last few months mayhem and let's raise a statue to these heroes once the parasites have gone. Can't make today but give Jose and KOKO what they both richly deserve. UTMP

A Wolves fan asked me who Jimmy Armfield was yesterday stood by the statue and as I was telling him about his long and illustrious career his mate said 'you know Steve - he's the bloke off Five Live!!' - couldn't make it up

There are 2 plaques next to the statue now, one detailing his playing days the other detailing his dignitary days. A nice addition imo.

Glenn tweeted last week that BSA had organised the work through Neil Vacchiano and that the club had picked up the tab

So, BST shine a light on a poor situation, who then BSA get the ball rolling in a positive action way, and then the Club wake up and realise whats going on and quite correctly pay the company for their services.

I think a big well done to all of the involved parties,

Good lad Neil. Back in 1999-2000 he was getting paid to rip seats out of the old stands.

Just to add my tuppen'eth worth as someone who saw Armfield play, if there is any sort of group who can maintain our statues on a regular basis then I'd be interested. Be a pleasure to keep the great man clean and sparkling!!

There appears to be some debate on who was responsible for the clean up - but whoever it was, WELL DONE.

Anyone marked the great man's birthday at the statue today? Not sure how but be nice to think it would have been marked even if it was just a scarf!
