Media Put Out First Restart Premier League Fixtures
Friday, 5th Jun 2020 08:37

According to several media outlets the Fixture list for the first few weeks of Project Restart has been produced, find out here where Saints will be playing and when.

Firstly I have to say at time of writing neither the Premier League nor Southampton FC have confirmed these dates officially, but they are being announced by several of the big media outlets and they would be in touch with the Premier League directly so presumably these are correct.

If they are then Saints will start with a 6pm game at Norwich City on Friday 19th June scheduled to be shown on Sky, then will play Arsenal at home on Tuesday June 23rd again a 6pm kick off and again Sky.

On Sunday June 28th we travel to Watford with a 4.30pm Sky kick off in the last of the fixtures to be announced.

Whether any of these games we play will be on freeview or the normal Sky Sports channel is yet to be announced.

Of the 92 games to be played, Sky have 64 and that consists of the 39 they would have been scheduled to show and have therefore paid for as part of the TV deal and then 25 that they are airing free to view

Amazon have 4 matches and they are making them all free to view and so is the BBC.

BT have the 8 games they would have been due to show as part of the TV deal plus another 8 matches, but so far they have not made any free to view or indicated they would.

There has been a lot of social media outcry about fans having to pay to watch the game and TV Companies being greedy,

But what is wrong with the TV companies wanting their monies worth, all they have asked for is what they paid for, in essence there are only 8 games being shown that you would not have needed to pay for if the season had completed as normal either by buying a ticket for the game or by subscribing to Sky or BT These being the extra 8 games BT seem to be wanting to charge for rather than follow Sky's lead and air them free to view.

So for most supporters their exposure is basically 4 home games where we might have to pay to get it on Sky or BT, these are difficult times with drastic measures being needed, it is not ideal, but it is also not the big rip off that some would have you believe.
