Saints In Competition For Teenage Midfield Starlet

Saints are reportably in a battle with some of Europe's top clubs for the latest teenage sensation in France.

Saints are being touted as a possible destination for Bordeaux's Adam Ounas, the 19 year old midfield is attracting the attention of not just Saints but also Manchester United & Stoke City in England as well as the likes of Napoli and Red Bull Leipzig in Europe.

Although Bordeauz have not had a great season, Ounas has, scoring five times and providing two assists in his twenty three appearances this season.

The price being bandied around at the moment is around ten million euros, however he is under contract to the French club till 2019 so they are in no hurry to sell at least not cheaply.

One person who does seem to be though is his agent, he is saying that he has had several potential offers for his client at that ten million euros figure.

He has won a cap for the French U20 side and is tipped for big things in the future, Saints reputation for developing new talent will be an advantage if they have to compete for his signature.

I think we need to work on that reputation, as we haven't brought that many stars through lately.
I don't mind if we sacrifice a couple of league places or Europe if we start to bring the youngsters in on a more regular basis.

I'm all for youth players coming through too Zambucco, but to what end? I'm not sure that sacrificing Europe or league placings is a step forward? Surely rather than accommodating youth they should be good enough to hit the ground running. Maybe the current crop just aren't up to scratch. It could be the case.

I like to see the youth come through as much as the next person. But as long as we are successful I'm not that bothered If Jimmy from Romsey doesn't get an opportunity in the first team.

We should be able to do both, MP has shown here and at spurs that he can get the best out of the young players. We have some good talent, its not just about risking them in the starting 11. Its about coaching them through, giving them confidence and giving them meaningful opportunities
