Saints Trying To Hijack Ogbonna Move Friday, 10th Jul 2015 08:42 After losing out on Toby Alderweireld Saints are now trying to snatch Angelo Ogbonna from West Ham's clutches at the 11th hour.
The Hammers are believed to have agreed a £10 million fee for Juventus central defender Angelo Ogbonna, linked by this site to Saints a few weeks ago, but after lowing out on Toby Alderweireld, Ogbonna is a target for Saints who are believed to have made an offer in excess of West Ham's to Juventus in an attempt to steal the player at the last minute.
However the player himself after agreeing terms with the Hammers looks set to keep to his word and not change his mind and join Saints despite Juventus much preferring a deal that would nets them at least 2 million Euro's ore that West Ham are going to pay.
Saints do have other targets and it is not known hos high up on that list Ogbonna was.

Given we could have done with perhaps more than 1 central defender, as we have Europa commitments, its a shame we didn't try for this player earlier on

How dare we, my goodness it would make us seem like all those other mercenary clubs out there. What next? We start raiding 'smaller' clubs for their best players?

Ive got mixed feelings on this one - if he is any good it will be great to get another CB in, but it would also be quite nice to see a footballer sticking to his word if he's already said he'll sign for Wet Spam

Lol if we had pulled our fingers out our ass we would have Toby for that .... And strange we tell the press that they not pay us the 1.5 mill and so can't go to spuds but no talk of court or even if they have paid us the cash

This is a load of bollox. We knew full well we were not going to get this guy, as we were too late as usual. The increased bid once it was virtually a done deal, is nothing more than a publicity stunt, in an attempt to appease the fans to make it look like we are trying to sign someone decent after missing the boat on Toby - who incidently is now revealing himself as a Spurs fan, and was alway looking out for their results and saying how fun it will be to play there. I still think we will sign a quality defender, but it looks like we have not only missed out on our main taget, but now we are losing our 2nd / 3rd / 4th back up options. Incidentally - we seem to make the majority of signings with players who have had experience in the Dutch Leagues - so can we assume it will be the same for a new centre back too ?

No great surprise that Alderweireld has gone to Spuds as they will probably always pay more. What pisses me off is this hollow thanks to SFC from the player himself - a token gesture to damage limitate and avoid too much abuse at SMS. So thanks for last season but sod off you greedy bastard

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Bury Polls |
