Centre Forwards / Wide Attackers - next Season
at 16:52 19 Feb 2025

We need a CF/goalscorer more than anything - spend all our money on a striker, none of the players mentioned are good enough, a couple are OKish. We have enough around the squad if we keep them next season.....

Neil Warnock on Sky as a pundit for Leeds/ Sunderland

Never liked the bloke....a complete utter horrible self centred man. However, I supported him as our Manager when we got promoted and thank you to him for the part he played in that season.

He is history now, thankfully.

Play Offs? Dream on
at 12:46 18 Feb 2025

One step at a time.......beat Pompey and its another 3 points to move us up the table. We then move on to a home match against Sheff Utd after a weeks training.

Top 6 is not out of sight(yet).

We certainly should have seen the game out in the last couple of minutes, not very good game management - take a draw and we, the supporters, would have been 'happy'.

But when you listen to the Manager, he wants a win and maybe his instructions, even late in the game, is to go for 3 points.....i don't know MCs orders but I'm sure someone on this MB does know them!!!

Hitting near post corners & free kicks are the most difficult. Generally the near post, which is the most vulnerable defensively, is heavily protected. And the reason why we play a lot of near post balls........the reason why we concede, and I have no evidence that we do, down his side is because the players supporting him do not support him like Smyth does on the right and Dunne is generally a better defender but not as good as Paal going forward. You cannot have everything otherwise he would not be here.

We had another LB and he was sent off on loan to Scotland because he was never going to get into the side ahead of Paal.

Yes the chat was we was trying to unload Paal but I personally have seen no evidence, why would we want to offloa??, apart from money which suggests or is because he is a good sellable player - why??, because he is decent at this level and as I said plays most of the time.

And re his corners, if he were to blame like you (& many others) are suggesting....why is he still taking them and taking the majority of them????

Marti - Glasgow Rangers.

1 - Glasgow Rangers are one of the biggest Clubs in the UK.
2 - Managing or Head Coach in the Championship is one thing but Head Coach in the Premier is a different level, massively different, not so sure he could manage 'easily' in that environment.

Ha ha, something I knew that you didn't. Happy Days!!

Back in the 60's Guide Dogs were talked about a lot and although I didn't learn too much at school I did learn about Guide Dogs and their training & how important they are to blind people. It was the 'in' thing back then..

He has had enough chances, he is not Championship standard. How many more times are we going to 'give him a chance'???

I presume MC & his team has already assessed him and decided he is not good enough, hence why he is at Orient. I would be most shocked if we offer him another contract.

Agreed PRR, he puts big defenders under a lot of pressure, not consistent technically but is strong and keeps the CBs fully occupied. A bit like, and I don't like to compare from many years ago, Andy McCullock who incidentally I played with his brother Ross (He was also a CF and 'put it about').

We have a very decent rounded squad........one of the best in the league.

We do, however, need a good CF and we would be a good, very good, team. What we have are OK.

Why do so many posters frequently 'slag' Paal??

Fortunately the Manager plays him whenever fit and available, moves him into CM during matches when the need arises which gives us a lot of options, gets him on corners & free kicks but posters post that he is poor - absolute nonsense. And BTW he was far from poor at Coventry.

We have one of the better left backs in this league and it is a real shame posters do not see that!!!!

Paal is better than mid table Championship.....watch where is goes if we do not renew his contract.

Regarding his corners, they can be frustrating but perhaps the players he is trying to find do not do their job.....and BTW the near post corner is very difficult to exercise - he is playing the ball into a very tight area which is well defended but get to it and rewards can be very good.

Why bring Madsen into this thread, its a Varanne thread. Totally blinkered view of Madsen BTW, he played 2/3 decent balls around, one not so good, got in good positions, defended well late in game to defend giving a corner awa - watch without blinkers and you will see much more. Give Madsen a chance FFS.

Varanne played well last night.....plain & simple - why over complicate things?? I do not know why he is not more forward thinking but perhaps he is doing what the Manager has asked him to do . (to sit, play it simple, defend, be strong, support the back 4, etc, etc..)

Another good signing, thus far, in his QPR career.....he is learning well

How many points needed for 5th/6th?
at 08:21 15 Feb 2025

We are in the mix for the play-offs, big month coming up......do well and we could get there but it is going to be 'proper' tough. MC and the players certainly think that they can do it and with their team spirit and togetherness it isn't all over.
